Man that's a lot of time, I get desperate when Wall-e takes a couple minutes to load on my ps3... good thing is thay play well once loaded, hopefully a future system update helps improve that... I'll let you know when I test mine, of if someone else has already, could you post?

I hope you didn't pre-order it because that would be a long wait... It came out like 2 weeks ago.

I miss some of the series of 24 but still I'm watching the current season right now. Jack Bower is very great and the scenes are very nervous.

I'm currently on disk 2. I had watched the season before and deleted it from my DVR. Was Season 7 cut? The Renee Walker scene where she threatens to hurt a baby. If I remember correctly, this scene was very gruesome...I even thought it wasn't meant for Tv. I just saw that scene again and I remembered there was a frying pan that was hot or something like that. And she was going to burn the baby. This did not occur in the scene. Am I losing my mind here? I think it was cut.

Finished season 7 on Wednesday of this week. Watched the whole thing in 3 sittings over a week and a half So much nicer watching on Blu-ray than week to week on SD cable.

Really hope that we see a catalog 24 release this holiday and then season 8 released in May when it finishes airing.

Anyway. As for my thoughts on season 7. I really liked it, but I thought that there were just a few too many take off points. What I mean by that is it seemed like there were about 7 fairly separate objectives in all throughout the show. They'd start to wrap up one and BAM the show would introduce a new element to the story and take off in a new direction.

[Show spoiler]
1. Get the CIP Device
2. Get first gentleman
3. Get that first bad guy (can't remember his name)
4. Get the General / save president
5. Get Bio Weapon
6. Get Bio Weapon again
7. Get Alan

Maybe it had just been too long since I'd seen good 24, but I don't remember it being like this. I remember things taking longer to resolve in previous seasons, and I like that better.

I really think that if they can't draw out one storyline successfully that they need to either start or finish a season with an unrelated story line. like come into a season and have Jack finishing up on a case he's been working for the past few months. Have that last 5 episodes or so, have a bit of a breather episode, and then have some completely new story occupy the reamining 18 eps. or do that in reverse where jack gets some new information on an older case towards the end of an season and either finish that up or have that sort of reveal into a bit of a cliffhanger for the next season.

I think 24 could also use a bit more of a connected storyline from season to season. They've certainly been trying to connect each season back to
[Show spoiler]President Palmer's assassination
, but I think they've been doing a pretty poor job of it. It really feels more like each season they just introduce a new character and tell you that guy was responsible for what happened. I'd love to see more actual breadcrumbs being left here and there throughout a few seasons which eventually lead into a huge series finale season. That would be awesome, but might work better if Jack had an official position inside the government.

Speaking of which, damn, how long are they just going to be 'freelancing' out work to Jack? I know it might not make any sense for him to be hired officially anymore, but I know I'd sure get to the point where I'd like a little compensation for saving the country over and over again.

I know after all this complaining it doesn't really sound like I liked season 7, but I definitely did. I think it might be my 4th favorite season.

Oh ya. I also have to say that I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see that Brannon Braga had joined the writing crew.

Now to go back and read through all the previous posts

I like the above comment about season 7 resolving issues too quickly. There was something I couldn't put my finger on that "ercked" me about season 7 and that was it. I love how desperate Jack had to get in previous seasons to deal with long, drawn out threats. There were too many quickly resolved issues in 7.

just finished it. first half was great. second half STUNK. 3 things i didn't like (try to keep it general and avoid spoilers):

1. too much legal discussion of torture: ok we get it. its a hot topic today. but this isn't MSNBC. its 24. get the info, save the civilians. i was ready to see Bauer walk into the Supreme Court and argue Zar-Kawi v. Gautanamau

2. jack's "condition": ok for 1-2 episodes, but after a while, got really annoying. either fix him or put him to bed.

3. jack's "prayer" moment: in my opinion, the low-point of the season, and an obvious submission to the powers of PC. i just hope its not the beginning of the end of "true 24" as know it.

4. the ending...WTF??? thanks for no loose ends

I think you and some other people are missing the point.

Jack Bauer is not a Terminator. He is a man. A HUman. Some people can take more than others, hold it inside. Jack can do this better than most. But after awhile it will come out one way or another. Jack tends to be more subtle about it or atleast private. But, he is nearing his end and would like to salvage what he has left and maybe have a moment of peace. Renee is somewhat turning into a "Jack" but unwillingly and chooses to express it more openly than he does. This has forced Jack to reflect upon himself more than he might have.

Its not PEESHEE or a copout. Nobody wants to deal with their troubles on their own and nobody wants to die alone. Jack does not seem like a religious person, but prayer doesn't have to be specifically about that. It can be much more simple and allow a person to share his burdens with someone literally praying with them and with someone who may or may not exist at all. Its certainly a much smoother option than crying, alone, in an SUV.

;_;

Sadly, this was the first season of 24 that I missed watching. I have just ordered the show and am looking forward to seeing this. I've heard it was both the best and worst season so far from friends. I can't wait to judge it for myself.

Oh, Jack, will you ever find true love? Or at least, one that doesn’t die on you or slip into a near-coma condition? Probably not, but that won’t stop fans of the long-running action-adventure show in hoping that the producers do everyone, but especially our boy Jack a really big solid by returning Audrey Raines (played by Kim Raver) back into Jack’s arms this season. Or at least, bring the girl nearby in some sort of reconnection in the upcoming (and possibly last?) season.

Says exec producer Evan Katz on the potential return of Audrey Raines in Season 8 (via EW):

Some of the things we’re doing this season preclude [her returning],” he says. “So I think not. She was in bad shape the last time we saw her.”

According to Katz, they still don’t know if FOX will renew the show for a ninth season, or if star Kiefer Sutherland will even return, as his contract expires after this season and you would think he might want to parlay his success on the show into, say, a movie career, or possibly another show. Eight years on one show is pretty amazing when you think about it.

Perhaps because of all these uncertainties surrounding the show’s future, Katz tells EW that he and the other producers have “contingencies are in place” (i.e. various storylines) that could either tie up the series at the end of Season 8, or keep it going if FOX does decide to bring it back.

Meanwhile, in less gloomy news, E! Online reports that former Heroes villain David Anders has joined the show’s eighth season as a recurring character. Anders will show up in a “handful of episodes”, though his role remains a mystery.

Being that Anders is known primarily as an accented villain, my guess is, well, he’ll be playing an accented villain.

If 24 decides to call it a day at the end of the eighth season, it won't be because the producers wanted to put an end to it, or Kiefer Sutherland wanted out, or they've run out of stories to tell. It'll be, simply, a business decision.

"It's our last contractual season of 24," Fox Entertainment president Kevin Reilly told iF Magazine. "There are a lot of moving parts, so we're not sure what will happen after that."

But he's not saying Kiefer's quitting it, or the producers are quitting it. In fact, he says, everyone's committed to the show, and a ninth season--or a film--is not out of the question. "We don't have any of them looking to jump ship," he said. "It's going to come down to a business decision. It's not an inexpensive show on the network books and we also want to finish strong. This is not a show we want to prop up. It will be a whole creative and business decision and something we'll have to deal with over the next few months."

While it's no secret that Fox has 24 signed on for this season at the moment, some people close to the situation are surprised by the remarks. "I think it's a sign that the network is ready to play hardball," an executive, who did not wish to be identified--because he wants to see 24 continue--told The New York Times.

In fact, the newspaper reports, the current season's already seeing the effects of tighter belts and more prudent wallets. The show may be set in New York, but don't expect to see Jack Bauer walk the streets of the city. The plan is for street scenes to be shot back in Los Angeles--a stark difference from last season, where they shot on location in Washington, D.C.

That, or they'd shoot street scenes behind a green screen, much like a weather report. That doesn't look good.

Is the clock finally running out for Jack Bauer? According to Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment President, this season may be the last for Kiefer Sutherland’s oft-tortured hero.

At the recent TV Critic’s summer press tour, Reilly told iFmagazine that the upcoming season is the last one under the show’s current contract. And while Sutherland remains committed to the show, Reilly is unsure of its future.

“It’s our last contractual season of 24,” Reilly said. “There are a lot of moving parts, so we’re not sure what will happen after that.”

He continued, “We haven’t made any decision whether it’s back or not [after this upcoming season]. The producers are passionate, Kiefer is passionate and we don’t have any of them looking to jump ship. It’s a show we’re really proud of.”

Reilly concluded that, “It’s going to come down to a business decision. It’s not an inexpensive show on the network books and we also want to finish strong. This is not a show we want to prop up. It will be a whole creative and business discussion and something we’ll have to deal with over the next few months.”

Admittedly the show’s numbers have slipped a bit in the last couple seasons — from a high of 13.78 million in season five to 12.62 million in season seven — but did place 20th in overall viewers this year. In the end, it may be just too expensive for the network, especially considering that the contracts are up for renewal. Though the commercials for 24 are, next to American Idol, the most expensive in primetime, the network’s ad sales are also down about 16% from last year.

Reilly maintained that the show might still continue after next year but his initial comments align with the plans of 24 Executive Producer Howard Gordon. He wants to take Jack Bauer and company to theaters and, earlier this year, Gordon said, “My hope is to go [shoot the feature film] after the eighth season. That’s sort of what we’re aiming for. I think that a big-screen 24 will be a fitting send off for Jack.”

What do you think? Is it time for Jack to say goodbye to the small screen? Would you realistically pay to see a 24 movie?

Last season for Lost and maybe 24? Looks like I might not be watching any basic cable shows after this year!

The Shield ended. Nip/Tuck is over. The Wire is silent. Deadwood is dead. LOST is coming to a close. Battlestar Galactica is done. Twin Peaks left us a loooong time ago.

If 24 ends, all I'll have left is Rescue Me.
