Doesn't bother me, I own plenty of great films that have crappy sequels that I never purchased. I only buy films I really like.

I want to think it doesn't. But sometimes it does

Instinct said I thought it would bother me, but when I look at what I actually own, I realise that - no, it doesn't bother me at all.

I have films where the series started off well and then dived beyond a threshold I could cope with, and I don't miss the awful films at all.

I have films where they're the _only_ entry in a series I've liked, and I'm happy to treat those as standalone films.

I have films where only part of the series is available - it's not my fault I'm missing them, so I don't let it upset me any.

About the only thing it seems I _don't_ do is cherrypick several films from a series. I seem to either "enjoy it up to this point" or "only enjoy this one".

Then there are sequels you don't want but you just end up with because it's cheaper or easier. I don't need every Die Hard or a million Freddy Krueger films, two Terminators is enough, two Home Alones are fine, but it's sometimes harder to avoid them than to buy them. I don't want Jurassic Park III on my shelves but Universal have made a different decision for me.

And who wants Airplane II in their house?
Howling II is the ONLY direct sequel to the first one.

actually, the only thing that would irk me is to miss a volume of Kino's Dark Side of the Cinema. Have the first 20 and enjoy every last one. At this point, yes, it would seem strange to miss a volume - though based on what they have announced, I do not see that happening.

Somewhat related. I currently own all (85?) 88 Films Italian collection releases, all with numbered spines. They could put pretty much anything out on that line now and I'd have to get it.

I assume you have UNCUT versions of the CUT ones (or in the case of Emanuelle & the Last Cannibals missing 58 seconds) in the line?

Emmanuelle was the one that was missing a couple of frames off every shot wasn't it?

I don't. When I started collecting them, there were about 15-20 available and they were regularly on sale in Fopp for £6, I really didn't know anything about any of the films. Every one of them has been a blind buy. I kept getting them because even the ones I didn't love had something in them that I thought made it worth it.

I'd prefer uncut (except animal cruelty stuff, I can live without that), but for the most part ignorance is bliss. I enjoyed Emanuelle and the last of the cannibals, but not enough that I'm going to pay a hefty price to import another copy to get it uncut. Too many other new titles I want to get. Plus who's to say 88 won't go back to it with a 4K release down the line I suppose.

The Howling's a great example of this. I only like the first 3, and avoided the DTV sequels

I've ONLY seen the first & 3rd, the latter because it is an Ozploitation film & also has Barry Humphries in it.

No.2 has Sybil Danning which is enough for me
