Default Question about a refurbished Zenith 50" Class 1080p Plasma

I've been looking to buy my 1st HDTV, and found a good one in my price range, a Zenith 50" Class 1080p Plasma from Sears.com for $550. That's the only plasma I can find around my price range that's in 1080p (I'd be happy with a cleaper 42" plasma 1080p, but apparently they don't make them in 1080p).

The problem is that they are out of stock online. I found 1 that's being sold "refurbished" from a store 30 minutes away from me. I'm going to call them to ask about the details, but I'm assuming it was a floor model before. My question is: has anyone else bought floor model tvs with good results? Is it a terrible idea to buy a used item that may have been a floor model? Does that take away too much of it's "shelf life?" Any answers would be most welcome, thanks.

Hi,
I would request you to buy tv from well brand manufacturers since you get better product, after sales service and also spares after 3 or 5 year,if need arises.
And if your budget does not permit then wait for one more year to buy the current models at little reduced price.
And there is no point buying used tv & electronic items.Since you are budget conscious why not buy new product that would last 6 to 10 years...?
Iam sure used tv or floor models would reach half life much sooner than new tv's since most of the shops keep them running at dynamic mode, torch mode or vivid mode.
So don't hurry in your decision.

There will be more offers coming your way,its just a matter of time.

love,
kris.

Good advice Kris. Zenith is actually manufactured by LG and it's there promotional line. Unfortunately, not one of the better choices.

The best low cost 50" class plasma is either Panasonic's new 2012 TC-PU50, but it retailers for $899. Another great choice is Samsung's new 2012 51" PN51E450 that sells for $619.

These are the very best non-3D plasma HDTVs available.

I was actually shocked to see a floor model 60" Zenith plasma at Wal Mart today for like $500. Granted, this particular WM was in a very bad (high crime/theft) area where almost everything in electronics is spiderwrapped/locked behind glass doors, no self-checkouts, and there are people waiting at the doors to verify your purchase receipt. I haven't seen a plasma for sale in at least like 6 months and this caught my eye, though it appeared to be fixed on a static store image so I'm assuming it has bad permanent burn-in.
