All the available images I can find online don't show how the discs are packaged/held within the case.

I'm guessing it's some card-board affair or multi-disc stack.

One of the reviews on Amazon mentions image quality dropping off significantly for the last two seasons (they claim even the discs were lower quality).
Discs are the exact same discs as the individual sets. Whatever that reviewer is smoking, stay away.

Case is a single DVD height case with 2 swing trays of stacked discs on them as well as the inner covers, and of course the bonus disc.

The only thing that is “lesser” about the disc for the later seasons is they stopped doing disc art, and they are basic Paramount blue. Honestly was surprising it got full disc art early on to start with, not that Paramount does not splurge on that sometimes, but it’s uncommon.

The case is the same type of case that was in the New Who collection that came out last year. When I got that set it was tons of loose disc and some of the worst scratches I’d ever seen, and in part it seemed like the issue was from the people that did the packaging up of the disc not seating them properly, I returned that set. I’m happy to report with my copy of this… no loose disc, and they do in fact look very good overall as well. I own the SteelBook’s so besides the bonus disc, these really are just backups for me, but still was very happy to see they look great in my copy at least!

uggg, I hate Paramount is still using those cases.... we need a law that says that any studio that uses those clamshells and stacked or overlapped disc trays need to be put in the deepest darkest jail imaginable for 20 years manadatory minimum (same for those who use cardboard sleeves instead of disc trays)

Yeah. I don't know why they simply couldn't just commission new slipbox art and slide in the existing cases in that.

I'm glad to finally have the show. Only two of my discs were loose, but luckily no scratches. I'm hoping that a complete series of "Lower Decks" happens after this last upcoming season. I've been collecting SNW separately and I'm on a quest to track down the seasons of TNG.

Shelf space, shipping size. Extra packaging costs money.

I wait for the physical releases now so am a bit behind, but...

Well, I bloody loved that final season. I think Rayner was a much needed character to shake things up (and got more character development in 1 season than many other characters got in 5...), and that we got a fair few almost totally standalone stories within the arc like the fun Voyager-esque time travel story and the dust planet.

Other little bits though, like Adira being able to grow more as a character and become a believable ensign in their own right without Gray hanging around.

A shame we didn't get another season or two, as I'd have loved more of this dynamic.

They’ve needed a Rayner-type character in the series for a while. A shame he only got one season, I think the whole show might have been elevated much sooner if he’d turned up in year 3.
