Likely a consequence of viewers growing increasingly aware, of how the studios/streaming channels like to buy the rights for an IP that was popular in the 1980s/90s, only to wrestle their new version into something that the 'original' audience can't recognize and have no interest in watching.

In this particular case, the fact that one of the titular bandits quit the show mid-filming, and has been trashing the show, claiming on-set harassment and abuse, was probably a big factor, too.
