EDIT: I see there was already a thread for this started by TheBondFan back in September. I guess today's announcement was for the addition of a steelbook version. Apologies, delete this thread if necessary.

Coming April 23, 2025.

French label ESC Editions is releasing Nightbreed (aka Cabal) in a 4K UHD Steelbook with Dolby Vision. Notably, this includes the Director's Cut on 4K, unlike the Scream Factory edition.

Why do we think Scream Factory couldn't get the director's cut in 4K?

Unless ESC specifically states that their french subs are not forced onto the English track, I expect them to be. French releases... stopped buying those many years ago.

Hope Scream Factory is taking notes now that this and lifeforce now have overseas labels releasing the other cuts in 4K outside of just the theatrical.

Well, I refuse to watch anything other than the DC of this film so Scream Factory’s 4K edition was a resounding pass for me and the explanation we’d never see that version in that format was a massive disappointment. That said we heard the same thing with World War Z and we see how that turned out. Hoping this isn’t just some upscale of the DC but honestly I’ll take it if it’s markedly improved over what we have currently.

I do like that coverart but if it has forced subs then it will be a pass for me.

Yeah that cover art is great. Also love that they’re using the Cabal title as I read the book before seeing the film back when I was in high school. To me Decker was always the creepiest aspect of the narrative.

Has the longest unofficial cut ever been released as a bonus anywhere. The one that incorporates silent footage from the negative but adds subtitles for it.

I managed to get a brand new sealed copy on eBay last night for £25.... I look forward to Arrow's announcement this week

I am supposed to get a copy this week, ordered against my better judgment when I was ordering some other French titles. will keep you updated

edit: Scratch that, amazon now saying delayed for 2 months
