I finished 1883 and 1923 (season 1) recently so I decided to start watching this. I just finished the first episode. Loved it.

It started a little slow for me at first, plus I didn't like the narration. You have it open with Jeremy Renner narrating that he's the Mayor of Kingstown, but then in the very next scene you find out he's actually not the Mayor yet and its his brother, played by Kyle Chandler. It kind of telegraphed that Kyle Chandler was

[Show spoiler]going to get killed in the first episode. I did like that it wasn't even an main character, just some small time idiot criminal who got caught immediately.

Knew something was going to happen to get Mike to step into his brothers shoes. Just didn't think it was going to happen that fast and be something so over the top dramatic with the crying lady on the street.

That said, I'm still not really sure what exactly Mike does. It looks like they are involved in the drug trade in the prison, but they also seem to be involved as some kind of middle men with the gangs outside the prison like the Crips and whoever "Milo" is with (Russian's maybe?).

I like the supporting cast. You've got the prison inmates, the guards and all the cops. You immediately get an idea of just how deep the corruption in this city goes. There is no one who is honest except for maybe Mike and Kyle's mom. I was surprised what happened with the stripper, I figured she was going to be a main character.

Had some nitpicks with the blu ray while watching the first episode. There were a few times where a scene would start and it would almost be in slow motion for half a second and then go into normal speed. I'm assuming that is a problem with the disc and not how they made the show. Hoping the rest of the episodes aren't like that.

Looking forward to episode 2.

Finally got the chance to watch episode 2 and 3.

Show is still good, I knew that somehow Mike would wind up staying on and officially becoming the new Mayor (otherwise there wouldn't be a show).

Again, I'm still not sure what Mike's (or his late brother's) actual duties are. It seems he is some kind of middle man between all the gangs, the prison and the police in town. He cuts deals so everyone else can keep their hands clean? Bunny seems to be the closest thing he has to a friend, but even if episode 2 they were pointing guns at one another.

Since Mike is the Mayor I'm not sure why in episode 2 it needed to be him, who the police recruited to crash into that crystal meth dealer.

I'd love it if someone exactly explained what Mike (and Mitch) do as Mayor. Maybe its something really obvious that I'm missing.

Episode 3 was good, with all the cops and the gangs hunting down that meth head who

[Show spoiler] accidentally blew up his trailer with the little boy inside. Seeing his burnt body was really difficult.

I don't get what the cops obsession was with making sure the guy made inside the prison to get killed. To the point where they are making deals with all the gangs to do it. Why wouldn't they just shoot him while arresting him? They showed in episode 1 that they aren't above doing that.

Not a fan of Mike and Kyle's mom. The actress is fine, its just the character isn't that interesting. Yet.

3 episodes in and I'm still enjoying it. Jeremy Renner is great, the whole cast is great. Hoping we get to see more Aidan Gillen on the show.

Lots of surprises and new faces coming to Kingstown, along with what seems to be an open war. Milo is out as the Russian baddie and has been replaced by another face and there's some sort of super villain moved to the prison to shake things up.....

I'm shocked there was no jibba-jabba about this season while it was on. Am I the only one still seriously watching this show or is everyone just waiting for the whole season to be out to binge watch in 1-3 days? Anyway, that was a heavy season finale and there's no pickup for a fourth season yet, so we'll have to wait and see.

I am still watching and enjoying it. I am surprised that no one is really talking about it. I do agree the season finale was pretty heavy. I really hope there is a season 4.

In reading the latest news, I think Paramount is waiting to see how things play out with the buyout and final season of Yellowstone and upcoming season of Tulsa King, before they commit to more TS business, as he's eaten up far more of their cash than they have gotten back in revenue from his productions.

Also why did the warden

All in all looking forward to new storylines.

I felt they tried to tie up too many storylines in one episode, and it took away from the more impactful ones. For example,

[Show spoiler]Milo is gone for the majority of the season, finally reappears, then the showdown is meh?

And also,

[Show spoiler]after everything they'd done with Iris on the show, and she just commits suicide on the bus? I felt that was a lame ending for her.

Oh, and that rapid-fire ending

[Show spoiler]involving Kyle being taken into custody for shooting Robert because "witnesses said it was murder"....I call BS, there was clear communication of Kyle ordering Robert to stop....but I'm sure that'll come to light in the next season and introduce even more bad blood between Kyle/Michael and Robert/KPD.

A lot happened in this finale--too much, IMHO. Felt rushed.

Aside from that, this has been a kick-ass show!

Yeah I’m hoping the

As you said, Kyle ordered him multiple times, let alone the guy he was going to shoot would have testimony as would people that were still on the bridge. It wasn’t just cops in the area. Would be really dumb if this sticks and Kyle gets in trouble.

[Show spoiler]Iris kind of makes sense. She wanted to stay and be with Mike. Mike kept pushing her away and like other men, taking away her ability to choose for herself. I guess they were going for the tragic storyline. Finally gets away but dies literally on the way out.

Also agree it seemed like too much for one episode.

[Show spoiler]As I said Bunny disappeared and as you said Milo appears and died basically in one episode even if we knew he was coming back. Just funny how he was the big bad for two seasons and now everybody talks to him like he’s nothing

Finished season 1. I watched the last 5 episodes of the season all in one day. I love this show and it really came together in the last half of the season. I don't understand how this show has the bad reviews that its gotten. I've already ordered the season 2 dvd on Amazon.

Jeremy Renner is great. He carries the show and it doesn't work without him.

Also a lot of the supporting characters are great: Bunny, Ian, Iris, P-Dog, Ed and Milo. I wasn't really into Aiden Gillen at first, but he really grew on me by the end. The season really sets him up as a major antagonist.

I couldn't stand Renner's mom on the show. Her scenes are always in the least interesting in the show. Also, the prison guard that got switched to the woman's prison, wow, what a complete idiot he was. My least favorite characters.

I thought the last couple episodes with

where the best of the season.

Question for people who are further along on the show: When Mike digs up the school bus, does that ever get brought up again?

Season 2 is only on DVD, so it doesn't seem like that's their plan.

Work on season 4 has begun, in the form of the writer's room being brought together, to prepare a story-line for the season, trying to get ahead of a renewal or cancellation call from Paramount.

MOK has been renewed for season 4 and filming begins next month, in Pittsburgh. They are now seeking scene actors/extras/doubles for the upcoming season.

I was not thrilled with season 3 as a whole either.
