Action hero Dolph Lundgren thrilled you in Rocky IV and Universal Soldier... Now he's back in the heart stopping Men of War. Nick Gunar (Lundgren) is part of a topflight team of ex-Special Forces agents hired by ruthless con men. Their mission: to carry out a secret operation and overtake an exotic island that's loaded with precious jade. But once there, the agents -- led by Lundgren -- defect to defend the islanders against the savage attackers! It's nonstop action as Lundgren and his elite group wage war to defeat the deadly opposition at any cost. From acclaimed screenwriter John Sayles (Lone Star, Eight Men Out) -- you'll love every hard-hitting minute.

This film and the Minion are my two favorite Dolph Lundgren films of all time. I haven’t seen Men of War in years though so I’ll definitely be looking forward to rewatching this title again as this is a day one pre-order for me.

Think the last double feature blu was not OAR and so this should already be a better edition.

In more recent years it's been with Lionsgate, according to the digital versions on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

This is a 2016 featurette I had done for the German release where I talk about the genesis / production based on my research and interviews with the producer and director...

Awesome news! I've had the Miramax two-pack for years now, but I'll happily upgrade for a dedicated, standalone release. The only other MVD Rewind release that I have is their Double Impact offering, which was terrific, so I hope for more of the same here!

Men of War is one of Dolph's best films. It's basically an Expendables film before the Expendables was a thing. Man, I love Trevor Goddard as the villain in this, he is ruthless.

"Oh, by the way, there's just one slight little ground rule. This isn't you hit me, I hit you, you hit me, I hit you. Oh no no no no no. This is...I hit you...I hit you...I F*ckin' HIT YOU!"

Is that one to be uncut/unrated?

So is the 2.35:1 presentation going to be correctly framed? As earlier presentations in this ratio are said to have simply cut off information from the top and bottom of the frame.

Also, what is this about an unrated cut - is that supposed to be the definitive edition?

Hoping that this upcoming MVD release will be the version that many of us have been waiting for, and not a compromise. (Did MVD offer Mean Guns framed incorrectly?)

Would also like to see some other first rate Dolphs come out on blu ray - I'm very partial to the long version of Shooter / Hidden Assassin, in which Ted Kotcheff is able to stage scenes exquisitely at times. My German dvd has the full version but is worse than VHS quality. Also I've kept my HBO DVD of Bridge of Dragons (never was fast enough to get that German blu ray...), a fine film by a pre-Undisputed Isaac Florentine.

Agreed. I'm wondering about those same details, too. From the MVD release notes, I'm not seeing any indication this is from a brand new scan, so I'm curious what existing master will be utilized. For those interested, you can view different framing options for various releases from the Caps-a-Holic comparisons.

We need the 2.35:1 framing of the German Blu-ray combined with the color timing of the Echo Bridge Blu-ray to create the ultimate edition. Let's hope MVD delivers because Men of War is amazing.

So weird to me Target has the DVD for order, but not the Blu-ray. I haven't seen another new release with this situation from them before.

review remarks on how tight the framing is. I wonder if this release has the framing issues that have plagued this film on home video.
