Should’ve been a Halloween III game where you play as Challis and go around killing robots and trying to stop the big give-away at 9.

Let me guess, it's going to be: over the shoulder, visual plastic, Unreal asset flip haven, tacked-on multiplayer mode, censor-bar mode, complete with a "win" button. I can't wait!

I was excited for the Halloween game until I realized it’s by the same developers that made and then completely abandoned the Evil Dead game.

Got a question. Is the Halloween 4k with the HDR turned on, representative of how the movie looked when shown in theaters back in 1978?

I remember reading somewhere, that 35mm film naturally have very deep black levels, and that blu ray wasn't able to replicate this.

General theatrical releases from back then should rarely be used as a metric for how a film should look. Projectors were old, they turned down the projector bulbs to save money and make them last longer which would seriously alter the black levels. So, no, it will not look like a print from back then.

Now, does the UHD represent the correct color timing? That's a can of worms I don't want to open.

What I'm specifically asking is, is HDR representative of what 35mm film is capable of?

It’s a complicated answer because 35mm is being projected by lamps (back then) and HDR uses LEDs to display a wider color palette and contrast/brightness.

So no, the 4K with HDR is not going to look like what 35mm is capable of. The 4K resolution is capturing what the 35mm film is capable of but the HDR is a different process. I personally love HDR and think it breathes new life into movies but if you are being a purist, it never had HDR.

From my understanding, wouldn't HDR be closer than SDR though?

It's well known that SDR is incapable of reproducing the same black levels and contrast, that's seen with 35mm film.

This is where I'm at with it. For me HDR and DV have been the closest thing to replicating the theatre screen experience for home viewing.

Just a wee reminder that if you plan on watching movies throughout October, up to Halloween, then you are doing it wrong and you are making the gods and spirits very angry. Samhain is the name for the month of November and Halloween is the beginning of the spook season. Not the end.

I was at Walmart last night and they had the Scream Factory hard box edition. If anyone is still looking for it you might want to check your local stores.

I am very sad the SF UHD release will probably the last Halloween physical media release. I can’t imagine them coming up with another superior edition in 2028.

I was at the local Wal-Mart on Sunday and noticed they had thee hardbox Shout Factory Halloween 4k. Being the perfect being that I am, I recalled the disc's issues and scoffed at it. Then I quietly laughed. Just then, a woman exactly 25 years of age popped around the corner. She looked just like Jennifer Coolidge and Britney Spears combined. "Wow dude...I heard you laughing at that abominable Scream Factory disc! I hear 'ya, I wouldn't get caught DEAD with one in my collection!" She cooed. She came 'round and took my hand in hers. "I'll do anything for you..." she whispered. The electronics department manager released a dove. It flew by us in slow motion. I sighed, retrieving a $750 pair of Gucci X RayBan RayBan sunglasses. "I'm sorry ma'am" I replied. The lady cocked her head. "As beautiful and radiant you are as an angel of the morning, I crave a more rough, forbidden love I can't find in the heart of a woman." Her lips pouted. A horse materialized beside me which I immediately straddled riding off past other customers and into the sunset and into the night in the arms of the man of my dreams, the perfect man, and a perfect movie collection.

We differ.
