Ahhhh, thank you, I understand now. So a "homicide" can be 1st degree murder, 2nd degree, voluntary/involuntary manslaughter, etc.

Homicide is the broader term. There are 3 types of homicide: justifiable, excusable, and criminal.

Criminal homicide is then divided into: murder, voluntary manslaughter, and involuntary manslaughter.

Then there's felony murder, which pretty much means you're royally f'd if you commit it.
