Well that answers my question about the movie. I wish they would have released the seasons individually for those that already bought seasons one and two Blu-rays. Oh well

It's the same artwork that was used for the DVD complete series set. It's likely that this isn't temp art.

From a review of the second season Blu-ray from DVD Talk: As before, all 31 episodes are presented two ways: viewers can choose the more familiar syndicated version of each show, or opt to view the shows as they originally aired (at a full 29:30 in most cases), complete with their original commercials and other filler, with different opening and closing titles and, rarely, with slightly different edits.

I'm happy for this release! I own most of the individual DVD repackaged seasons as well as the original Blu-ray releases of season 1 and 2. I was going to get the complete series on DVD eventually but I'm glad I waited.

It's good that most of the special features from the DVD's will be retained and also all the stuff from the first two Blu-rays. It's too bad that for the later seasons there won't be an option to view the episodes as they were originally aired. I wonder why? Could it be because it will be too costly? I wish that I had recorded the series when it aired on TV Land which had the original network openings and closings (although they replaced the Phillip Morris logo with the TV Land logo).

Why would someone be asking for a colorised version of the show? (In the FB post)...
And while I will be buying this, I always found the artwork of the BD, and this one, not good at all and nowhere near luscious as the show itself looks.

A question for I Love Lucy experts....which season and episode contained the plot where Lucy/Ricky and Ethel/Fred go on a trip (California?) and they end up at Ethel's home or something and the people made Ethel seem like a superstar...then it ends where Ethel singing and the other three make fun of her and keep carrying stuff back and forth behind her on stage without her knowing.

Maybe it's all in my imagination?

That's Season four, episode fifteen: Ethel's Hometown.

Watching the original broadcast version is right up my alley. I'm a sucker for that old school advertising.

I was thinking of picking up the full dvd set at some point (I've only owned season 1 and watched the greatest hits episodes over my lifetime). For some reason I thought this show had 9 full seasons, but it was only 6 and a 15 or so of those hour long ones that count as 7-9.

I am so pleased to see another classic TV series coming to blu ray from CBS/Paramount. Especially since this one has been a top wish list for years.

I love I Love Lucy, I've loved it since I discovered it on Nick at Nite when I was 10 in 1994. I own the entirety of the series, including The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, when the individual seasons were released by Paramount/CBS in the slimline DVD packs. These DVDs, even though they were produced 10+ years ago (maybe even 15 years ago), still look and sound really good. They contain all kinds of fun special features like the original animated sequences, commercials with Lucy and Desi, even the long lost pilot (found in 1990 or 1991). Then at some point, the seasons were re-released on DVD with the slimline DVDs removed and put into the same case. I personally find the cartoon art unappealing and I prefer the aesthetic of my seasons in the slimline packs. Then Paramount/CBS released the entire series on DVD using the same art work that is on this new blu ray set. The synopsis on the blu ray set and the dvd set are identical. The only thing I'm interested in is the colorized "Lucy and the Loving Cup" episode as I found the colorized episodes fun to watch and own the set. But that by itself wouldn't make me buy this set. Another bonus feature is the "I Love Lucy Movie" but I also own that in a standalone release.

Despite my love of I Love Lucy, I don't think I will be dying to buy this new release any time soon.

"At long last … Lucy! I am delighted to announce that Paramount Home Entertainment will release “I LOVE LUCY: THE COMPLETE SERIES on Blu-ray” on November 5th, 2024.

This exciting new package is a bit of a mixed-bag: included are seasons 1 and 2 – exactly as Jonathan Angus and I produced them for CBS a decade ago—plus the last seven seasons (seasons 3-6 of the half-hour series and the three seasons of hour-long Lucy-Desi specials).

Jonathan (our restoration editor and video master-craftsman) and I – and a team of Lucy fans and film collectors – pooled our talents and collections this past summer to come up with what we consider to be “the ultimate” Lucy Blu-ray release.

*** Joining the regular black-and-white shows this time is the newly colorized/never before released “Lucy and the Loving Cup” episode from 1957. ***

Also on board are three never-before-released-on-video “flashback” scenes (originally prepared by Desilu to lead into prime-time network repeats) and Lucille Ball and Vivian Vance’s appearance in the CBS fall preview special “Eye on CBS,” promoting the network’s 1959 fall schedule.

Last but not least, the 13 Lucy-Desi specials are being presented here substantially AS ORIGINALLY BROADCAST, with original Ford and Westinghouse opening and closing graphics, original cast commercials, and missing scenes that had been edited out over the years for reruns. Watching these shows, it feels like the late 1950s all over again!!!

(Before you ask: Most of the seasons 3-6 half-hour shows will have the standard heart-on-satin openings and closings – but not the original broadcast versions. And yes, many of the special features found on the DVD releases have been retained here – but in higher resolution, of course! For example, the “I Love Lucy” pilot has been remastered from the original 35mm kinescope!)

It’s a beautiful set honoring one of TV’s all-time-favorite series!

Special thanks to Angelo Dante, Larry Pane, Stu Shostak and Dan Wingate for helping to make this release possible!"
1. Does S3-S6 at least have the original content as bonuses in the set, or is it just "heart on satin" all the way?

2. Is the movie included? (Yes, another user already asked this, but I don't think they got an answer.)

3. There are many - MANY - colorized episodes, probably 10-15 of them by now. (I know the Christmas show, Job Switching, Lucy's Italian Movie, and at least four others, plus I think there's some more.) How many colorized episodes total till be included?

They would have made so much more money if they had released this set like 8 years ago like they should have.

I find it interesting that this is suddenly getting released after The Three Stooges set was just released. Like why all of a sudden are these classic stuff getting released now?

MOD for TV on BD is proving viable. Already existing HD masters, lower disc authoring costs... Warners is starting to put out catalog MOD WB and HBO series as well finally.

Next shoe to drop might be Sony putting out TV on BD via MOD instead of just letting Mill Creek do their usual quality work.

I mean mod mostly lowers risk of over printing it’s more expensive overall though. A fair number of these releases should probably of had at least initial normal print runs. The main reason for mod is when companies have no idea what demand will be like.

Prices are higher for MOD because a wide release has to produce more, so they have leftover stock... prices get slashed to clear out warehouses. Then studios release less TV on disc because they think nobody cares because there's so much stock leftover.

Wider gets cheaper, but MOD gives more titles.
