Hopefully they do this for the whole Cornetto Trilogy because now I'm experiencing my first buyers remorse.

This is all due to Edgar Wright and his "specs". He had it remastered for the Dolby Cinema experience like Scott Pilgrim and I seriously doubt they used the same 4K master for the current UHD Blu-ray. I haven't heard anything negative and apparently there's some digital tweaks here and there like pools of blood on the ground and such. Since they're spending the money I think we're in for a treat.

Oh, I had no idea. So this is not just a reissue of the same disc, it's a new one with DV and some fixes? I'll have to put that in mind.

But why? I wish they would just leave these movies alone. Who has watched this movie for the past 15 years and said, “You know, its a great movie but they really should have added some blood right there”

Scott Pilgrim was 'just' an upscale tho, it's not like that was transferred anew (but there's so much VFX most of it would've been upscaled anyway). But Shaun having some form of cut negative makes me a lot more optimistic after my initial scepticism.

I look forward to this new 4K transfer.

I somehow (don't know how) never got the initial 4K disc, which is surprising as I really like this film. This is a good excuse to finally pick it up.

I’d always assumed it was there but just out of frame and we couldn’t see it. There’s only a short second or so while he walks in that you can see the floor in the distance where he’s about to walk, and it’s a white and red tiled floor so I just assumed there was some blood on one of the red tiles that we couldn’t quite make out from a distance. After the slip happens you don’t get a full view of the floor again so you would never notice on a first viewing, only if you’re really looking for it on a rewatch.

I always liked it as a good little bit of physical comedy, it never needed Lucas-style tomfoolery to make sense of it. Could be worse tho, there could be a CG Ronto painted in.

So I don’t suppose there’s any suggestion of them redoing Hot Fuzz? I hope that we won’t have to wait until the 20th anniversary of that in 2027 to get some kind of upgrade…?

The bad news is that you will probably have to wait until 2027. The good news is that it is very likely that we will get a new 4K of it in 2027.

Oh that looks quite nice, although I think it has some light DNR in places. Could just be the YT compression tho.

I’m actually cool with the added blood. That scene has always kinda bothered me that he slips but there was no blood. Are there any other changes/fixes?
