I'm going to post comparisons for 1 episode from each of the first 3 seasons. I'm confident there's no major cropping involved. Especially after doing the comparison for the Pilot not too long ago, and there's no cropping at all. There's actually more at the top.

EDIT: Comparisons for S02E15 "Marie's Meatballs"

I know it may look like they're cropping a little on the bottom, but they're not. It's just re-framed slightly, easy to see when you look at the top of the frame which has more than what you see in the original. So far the only scenes I've noticed cropped are the outside shots of their houses. Also, can't compare the opening credits. They used a completely different take.

Can this be moved to the wish lists section? First major issue, from episode 6 of season 1 "Frank, the Writer":

If there's more room on the other side of the frame, they could easily fix it if it ever comes out on Blu-ray. If not, they'll probably do what WB did with Friends, zoom & crop. Here are comparisons for episode 10 "Turkey or Fish". I was able to do a comparison for the intro with this one. It has been cropped, opened up, re-framed & digitally edited. Look at the cap where the twins pass:

And it seems whoever done the re-mastering for this episode forgot to put the credits in that show after the opening credits. There are no credits at all in that scene in the last cap.

I will buy this show, and Seinfeld, if they ever get released, because the HD transfers for HDTV are subpar and compressed all to hell, and there is a carrier logo.
It was shot on Super 35mm film, sure, but what format was it edited on? If it was edited on standard def videotape, which is likely, then all bets are off on blu-ray. To do it right, they'd have to do a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" treatment on it and rescan all the 35mm negative into HD digital, and recut every shot, something CBS Digital/Paramount did with Star Trek: TNG, but something way too costly and laborious to do for most other shows edited on videotape in the pre-HD days.

I never watched this show until a couple of years ago. A good deal of funny things have been said in it in my opinion, but right now I have no interest in buying it because while it is funny, to me, every character on the show put up with way too much from at least one other character on the show, the way that they were to each other. Debra was nuts to stay married to Ray and put up with Marie's crap, Marie was nuts to stay married to a man as lazy as Frank, and Robert was nuts to continue having anything to do with any of the other characters not including the kids of course. Him and Amy should've moved after they got married.

God bless you always!!!

So, apparently on May 25, 2021, the Complete Series of this show was released again on DVD, but it was marked as an RPKG release, which stands for "Repackaged." I can only assume that means the same 2011 release discs were put inside a new packaging cover. Am I correct? And does that mean the new covers will be stamped "2021" at the bottom of the back cover as well to indicate that year of release, or would it still indicate "2011," which was the initial release year of the complete series?

I bought this set Brand New on ebay last week and it was delivered yesterday. The back cover indicates 2011. So I know it's the initial complete series release, which is why I'm asking. I got it for a good price too, but I held off because I would have preferred Blu-ray, and I very rightly figured that the moment I decided to cave and buy it on DVD, it would then be released on Blu-ray for the first time a short time later.

Now let's watch what happens.

Not a particular fan of the 2021 re-release. I liked the old style discs where each character had its own disc but now they have generalised it to fit the colours of each season.

I am really desperate for a Blu Ray release though. Just rewatched this show for the first time in over 10 years and I had forgotten how elite this show was. Truly a top 3 sitcom for me personally and would snag a Blu Ray release in a heartbeat.

The only way to watch any of the Raymond characters in Blu Ray is ironically through the King of Queens Blu Ray boxset on the episodes featuring the Raymond characters.

2026 would be its 30th anniversary but waiting till then seems not a great idea from a sales standpoint ...

I know I'm a little late to the party, but thought I'd chime in. I had the old DVD set in the big bulky boxes. While I liked them and how they unfolded, they were huge and wasted a lot of space. I bought the 2021 set to save space. The 2021 set takes the same exact disc and puts them in slimline cases for each season. They use the same color scheme as before and the disc are the exact same to match (each character has their own disc (5 per season)). The only difference in the sets is that they have been put into a smaller package. BTW, would love a blu-ray set as well.
