Does the "600" Series Onkyos --Specifically the '605 -- Do TRUE HDMI Passthrough?

Well, that's why I asked because you didn't seem to know if it passed video straight through; are you assuming it does without knowing?

Thanks for the compliment, and yes the speaker wires are in the walls. I messed around and didn't use in-wall rated wire when I did it because I didn't know better at the time, but I plan to rememdy that in the next month or so. It wasn't as much trouble as you might think to run the wiring to begin with (thanks to an attic with plenty of room to move around), so I don't expect it to be too much trouble to change it, and the wire isn't that expensive from monoprice. I haven't been worried about it because there's no insulation in the walls involved, but I still want it to be done right.

When we finally get into a house soon, I am going to convince the wife that doing in-wall wire runs are the way to go.

I've always left that setting 'on' before because I like it to show when I adjust the volume on the screen. However, it only displays when I'm using a source like my 360 or Wii because they're not hooked up with HDMI. When I'm using my Dish receiver or PS3, there's no display because they're HDMI sources. That's why I thought that setting wouldn't matter. Supposedly it doesn't display an OSD with an HDMI source because that would require the receiver to 'process' the signal in some way so it can lay the OSD over the display. The other sources I mentioned are connected with component video cables, so the receiver has to convert that to an HDMI signal, and since it's already converting it, it's able to add the OSD. Either way it's no big deal to me and I still turned it off. I'm curious to see if I'll notice any difference.

I understand your logic; I was just sharing with you what I have been told and what I read online via Onkyo receiver reviews and such -- if you CAN live without the onscreen menus for the receiver, I would just leave the Immediate Display OFF to be sure.

What about your INTELLI-VOLUME feature? Are you using it? For my DVD input, I have it cranked up to "+10dB" as well as on my CD input; it really makes the amp come to life...
