Resurrecting this thread after a few years to answer my own question. Despite the back cover saying Region B, this disc plays just fine on my Region A players. A/V quality is probably a notch below the Twilight Time and Capelight discs, being compressed onto a BD-25 with lossy audio ... but this talky costume drama honestly looks and sounds fine on my system. (And to justwannaboogie, there are no forced subtitles.) As a bargain-priced upgrade from DVD, and a film I won't watch often, I'm satisfied!
