Default Seinfeld: The Complete Series (not available in Canada)

With today's news of Seinfeld being released onto Blu-ray and Limited Edition 4K in December, I was going to pre-order my set immediately. However when going to Amazon.com, it says that neither set is available to my address, meaning they won't ship to Canada. Then I checked Amazon.ca, and neither set is even listed.

Does this mean Canadian's are getting F'd over for even being able to pre-order Seinfeld at a suggest retail price?

Side note, I get the strong suspicion that the 4K limited edition is going to be a lot like the Ghostbusters 4K Ultimate Collector's Edition Sony released a couple of years ago. Limited not being just a marketing tactic, and will sell out fast, leaving us with eBay prices with 500% mark-ups. That's my theory anyways.

If all you want is the LEs immediately then use a Shippsy address.

Shippsy charges more the bigger the package but I guess money is no object to those that buy the gimmick junk. lol

Amazingly there already is a thread for Canadian pre-ordering instead of creating a thread about every release:

That thread isn't exactly about the topic at-hand. It's about the fact that Seinfeld 4K and the Blu-ray aren't available at all on Amazon.ca, nor is it available for shipping to Canada from Amazon.com. That thread seems to be about pre-orders that are back-in-stock. This isn't about Seinfeld showing as out-of-stock, it's showing simply not available to Canadians, period.

But you still have to enter a valid American based credit card into Amazon to order it. If you've ever tried ordering something from the U.S. that only ships to the U.S., and even when using a U.S. address, some companies will still block the sale due to the billing address not being within the United States. Amazon has done this to me on several occasions for several Disney titles I haven't been able to order. I have a U.S. address I can ship it to, but they still won't accept the payment.

I preordered it with shipping to Canada from Amazon.com. Been checking daily if it pops up on .ca in case it's cheaper and I'll cancel the other. Canadian issued card, Canadian address. Import charges were on my order ($13USD, + 9USD Shipping).

Also checked at sunrise they don't have it in their system either.

It could appear later, similar happened with Paramount Presents: Election. I pre ordered form the USA amazon and it eventually came to Canada. Seinfeld is a pretty big release, and Friends is available in Canada on 4k, so I would be surprised if they didn't release it here. Although Inside Out 2 4k defied that logic.

So here's hoping!

Amazon.com finally allowed me to pre-order four days after the announcement. I kept getting a message that "This product is not available to ship to your location", which I see a lot with Disney/Fox titles that me think they weren't shipping to Canada due to perhaps licensing or not printing bilingual packaging... difficult to say. And with no Amazon.ca listing is when I got worried. Thankfully I have my pre-order in. Expensive, but necessary if I want to make sure I get copy. I have a bad feeling it's going be limited as they suggest and sell out sooner than people realize.

I also pre-ordered from Amazon US and have it shipping to my mailbox in Blaine. But I’m pretty certain it’ll pop up on Canadian sites in a few weeks. They’re probably just finalizing licensing. The CAD site prices will likely be higher but that might be negated by my fuel and U.S. mailbox/receiving costs. And Canadian credit cards work just fine on the Amazon US site. Been buying stuff for years.

I expect the price here to go down and will most likely end up being the cheapest option:

Thanks. Will keep watch there in case it goes down. I paid the same ($350 CAD including taxes) at the Amazon US site. Of course the price could also go down there.

Sure, I order from Amazon US all the time with a Canada CC. But I've found if a product is not available to ship to Canada, even if I had a U.S. mailing address they still won't accept the payment since they know it's coming from a Canadian CC. I really do think it has something to do with licensing for regions.

Why is the set (BR or 4K) not available in Canada? Is some company holding the rights other than Sony? What gives? They only have the years-old DVD set on amazon.ca? There has to be some reason why it's not available. NO SOUP FOR YOU!

For whatever reason, some Sony titles aren’t being made available on amazon ca until after the releases date. I have no idea why though

I really wonder if it has something to do with how many pre-orders they receive in the U.S. to see if it's worthwhile making it available in Canada? Or another theory, maybe the distributor needs to get J-cards printed with bilingual packaging before they'll make it available? Just a couple of wild theories.

As for the price, $310 CDN. That's exactly the amount I paid after shipping and exchange from Amazon.COM. Guess it won't make much of a difference where you get it. Regardless, very overpriced set. I guess Jerry and company need those extra residuals, otherwise they'll be begging for change on the street if we don't help them!

Good question. Both the Panic Room and Social Network steelbooks are in the same boat.

How do you get the $4 shipping? I just tried an order with 4 items and it comes to $41 CAD shipping.

Looks like the '$4USD shipping cost if you buy 4' (on usa ebay) has expired and been replaced with 'Extra 15% off 2 or more items with code 15OFF2MOVIES' which dont apply to preorders.

There is still an 'combined shipping' discount just not as much.
