Saw the show in Toronto with my mom and sister over 10years ago, with Married with Children’s Marcy’s first husband (Steve) as the Wizard in my show. I know someone who has already seen the movie and said it will do real well. Couldn’t say anything else but enjoyed the film. It’s in 2 parts but the first movie is 2hrs 45mins, but the entire musical is only 2hrs and 40mins long.

If Turbine does end up releasing the 3d release I wonder if they'll be able to release it right away or have to wait a few years?

Early access showings on 11/20 and in 3D. Tickets should be on sale soon for this.

I doubt Universal would want people buying the 3D version from Turbine if they are trying to push the crappy flat version themselves, they will want people buying it on streaming and 4K. The fact that it is split into two parts also complicates the release schedule, if it was up to me I wouldn't bother attempting to release it on 3D Blu-ray until both parts were out.

Wow..! The conversion reminds me of the kind of style that The Rock movies got in the mid-2010s. They understood the assignment completely - we dont go to 3D movies for barely visible 3D. The goal was clearly not to be perfectly realistic and there are plenty of errors, but it is an absolute blast and strong the whole way through. It's in stereo from the moment the custom Universal logo appears right until the first section of the credits end. There are some very creative shots and I will absolutely be seeing it again in 3D.

I missed the full stereo conversion credit but apparently it was the work of Indian and Canadian teams.

Our theater (Tyson's Corner) tonight lost power 15v minutes in, and canceled the screening

The 3D's mostly in the serviceable, medium range. Some scenes do reach in the high-medium (the end of The Wizard and I, the title card, for example). 6.5/10

Default Can’t Wait!

This might be the most awaited film release of my adult life! So surprised it it got a 3D release. I’ve seen this live countless times and have already spent so much money on tickets, merch, LP’s and CD’s already I already secured my 4K steelbooks through Zavvi.

Unfortunately, I already pre-ordered FOUR different versions of the LP: Fan Edition, Picture Disc version, Glinda version and the Elphaba version plus the Fan Edition of the CD as well as the regular edition CD.

Musicals are how real life SHOULD be. Don’t want to read anymore comments disparaging musicals. My experience is that 99% of males that I meet claim to hate musicals. So strange. I managed to drag my brother (who only knows musicals I’ve forced him to watch but he LOVES Wicked.

Please don’t allow your “machismo” keep you from experiencing this pop culture phenomenon! Praying for a US 3D release like Avatar too. I ordered the 4K+3D Steelbooks from Japan which cost me $200. I would’ve saved a lot of money buying the US versions.

Luckily, I ended up with two copies of the 4K+3D Steelbook and got to keep it for free bc it was too expensive to send it back. I’ll be posting it for sale soon so let me know if interested.

Loved this in 3D! Very good depth and volume for the whole runtime. The 3D especially works to showcase the amazing set design and put you in the location. Standouts for me were the school library scene and the act 1 finale location. But, pretty much every set has standout 3D moments.

The movie itself does a great job of propelling you along and keeping you engrossed in the story. The runtime has gotten a lot of talk, but in my estimation it earned it. Highly recommended.

I’m not sure why they would care, since all the studios obviously think the 3-D market is pretty small. Turbine 3-D sales would be a proverbial drop in the bucket. But who knows.

Agreed on musicals, I’m a big fan of the form, though mainly into classic Hollywood musicals, especially Fred, Ginger, Judy, and Gene. So funny and ridiculous that studios are still trying to pretend that musicals aren’t musicals. The trailer for Wicked is pretty pathetic. Not one single solitary shot of someone singing a song, yet there is a song number or two in this show if I recall correctly.

The Library sequence is absolutely the best, glad others enjoyed it as much as I did. Loved the set design being showed off in 3D, the spinning was mesmerizing haha.

Cool, thanks. Good point that most audiences watch very noticeable 3D. Not mild 3D that's barely there just to put on glasses in a dark theater. Good to hear the conversion team gave it a good 3D effort from the sound of it.

I really enjoyed Oz Great and Powerful.

I'm so excited to see Wicked is getting a 3D release. I love musicals so this is going to be awesome. Also my wife is super excited Moana 2 is in 3D. Maybe 3D is making a comeback!?
