The new B600 series is easily better than either of those sets you are considering.

The B650 and the B750 are the best non-LED based LCD's out there this year IMO. The screens are incredibly uniform...something that's pretty rare in the LCD world, and the black level is excellent. Colors are extremely accurate too. The other three sets you are looking at don't touch these.

You're right about the XBR9 being a step backwards in replacing the XBR6. If size is more important then go for the Panny since its the best price and you will still get a very good set overall.
I own a B650 and an XBR9. IMO, the XBR9 is *much* better than the Samsung. I compared the B750 to the XBR9 at BB before I ordered my XBR9 and I felt the Sony had a much cleaner and more realistic picture.

The B750 is a great LCD, but the reflection was annoying (as is the reflection on my B650), and I felt the picture was just brighter and not necessarily any better than the Sony.

Also, I like the XBR9 bezel a lot better than both the B650 and B750.

The Sony XROSS menu system is leaps and bounds better than the menu system on the Samsung. My B650 menu is pretty sluggish (and I'm running the latest firmware) and doesn't have as many online features as the Sony (streaming video etc).

I am looking to buy another 55" for my tv room and would have bought another XBR9 if they had a 55" version (I currently own a 40" B650 and a 46" XBR 9).

I'm waiting until Sony releases their XBR10 and will definitely take the plunge on that.
