I have now completed my 2025 purchases, anything that appeals from now on will be my 2026 list!

Very happy with the releases this year, The Substance looks fantastic, Longlegs, Strange Darling, All Of Us Strangers, Furiosa, Alien: Romulus, Dune 2, Civil War, Challengers, catalogue like The Hitcher, Watership Down, The Stone Tapes, etc..

Great year personally.

The issue is there are too many porch pirates. I can't imagine the police canvas every house for video every time it happens. If it is something much more serious, for sure, but for a film?

I am still working on my 2024 list, have several titles to purchase and waiting to see if any of them will be on the Black Friday sale. Have three Criterion Collection titles that I will buy since the Barnes & Noble sale has started in the US.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
The Hitcher
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes

Criterion:
The Red Shoes
Ride Lonesome
McCabe & Mrs. Miller

Nice, Kingdom will be Christmas holiday viewing for me, I’m hoping Terrifier 3 is out for Christmas too.

I have added a pre order for The Cell UHD, which will be a 2026 title.

Trying not to buy anything until January now.

Also included in my 2025 viewing will be several 3D titles from the 3D film archive. (I’m now region free).

They can request it but they need to go to a court to force you to hand it over. It will probably be gone by the time they even ask for it anyway. A lot of these systems overwrite and don’t have that much memory so you have a week for a residential camera if it’s even on if your lucky.

It’s also a pain in the butt to find small things on cameras.

where my cousin lives a few days ago someone threw a Molotov cocktail at one of the neighbor's homes. The police did knock and ask for video to everyone on the street.

Bought hook 4k and Amazon shipped it in a bag with 6 other things so of course the case got crushed and won’t even close properly. I decided to return it and when I took it to whole food they threw it in a big box which is kind of ironic since a box could have avoided this whole thing to begin with.

Same here. Lots of external factors going on that really triggered my anxiety and depression. Only put out one or two decorations and only managed to watch about five movies, when I normally watch one every night during the month. Add to that no trick or treaters, and this October was a dud. Hopefully next year will be better.

The amount of tv shows we are getting this year is starting to feel overwhelming. It’s just so much all at once.

Today a small group of americans will head to the polls and make a decision that, based solely on the state they live in, will be anxiously scrutinized by the whole world.. I know I don't live there and shouldn't have any say but my family will be glued to the TV tonight with baited breath awaiting the final outcome.
In my home I'm outvoted 3 to 1 on our preference. I know we strive to keep politics out of these threads..but the stakes are just too high right now, so I can't help telling you all that I really hope that when all is said and done, MAINE opts to take this decision seriously and go with the simpler design for their state flag even though it is tearing my family apart..the wife and kids think they should keep the one they have now...

Other than this most important decision...I guess it'll be a slow news day..

Saw at the Bits (here) where David Mackenzie* of Fidelity in Motion has rendered and authored the new release of “The Searches”. I know FIM has done other titles for UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray. David and Fidelity in Motion (here) has been involved in the Spears & Munsil Benchmark Test Disc (here).

He is a seal of quality that always gives me confidence in the various titles he has been involved with.

Watched the 4K disc of Trick or Treat (1986) last night and just like The Hitcher 4K disc, this is another phenomenal release -- top of the year material. Watching the supplements now.

OT post.

For those that use file play and have a Apple TV4K. For years I have used the Oppo UDP-203 for DVD (disc or file [MKV]) and 1080i file playback because it does a better job with that content than any media player I have owned. Recently I tried the Apple TV4K at this content play and I must say that it appears to be as good as the 203. So I purchased another year of Infuse (here). Must say Infuse has many advantages over the Oppo as a file media player. One feature the Oppo has is the easy accessible video settings including Sharpening and Noise Reduction which can help some DVD’s.

At some point I may connect the ATV4K HDMI Out to the Oppo HDMI In and see how that combo works.

Good to know, I picked up Halloween 3 UHD despite saying I was done for the year. I’m done for the year now!

So do you guys buy products if they have bad packaging? I generally avoid products if they stack discs or use slip cases so the discs are likely to be damaged. super friends and i love lucy seem to have rather poor packaging and replacing cases for 50 discs sounds like a nightmare but I do want the releases so I'm not to sure what to do.

If i want the. movie, I'd buy it wrapped up with a piece of fish in a paper bag...I don't give a rat's patootie about packaging... the disc will only be removed once to be ripped to my media center..

Non standard packaging can be a bummer and make it hard to organize a library.

Thankfully there are several ways to cope. Like putting the media in alternative packaging.

It may be time for me to reboot my media server. I see it as time sink but thankfully I have time. My media server will be fully offline and for the most part so will I. I'm leaving the matrix but I will still be here for a while because I like you guys that much.
