Maybe that's part of their plan.

Step One: Remove all BC from market - almost a check.

Step Two: Rewrite games to play on PS3. Resell entire PS2 library all over again.

Step Three: Laugh.

Could possibly be why FF7 remake went from "no project" to "we could have something to tell you later", thanks to a deal between S-E & Sony w/studio Santa Monica (who might just have found a way to port PS2 games to PS3 code "relatively" easily). We would get a FF7 in 720p+AA and trophies?

What's next? FF X / XII?
Possibly Shadow of the colosus and a few others?

What would be the most impressive PS2 games that might support the 720p+AA rework and look good ?

eh, I will probably still get this, but it would be great if i could import my PS2 game saves so i wouldn't have to start over. If its on BD though, that seems unlikely.......

You also have to take into account that the "new" version will support trophies which makes it even less likely they will support this.

true, forgot about that. They should solve every problem with trophies.

1. FF7 is a PS1 game.
2. There is not a single art asset in the entire game that could be reused for an HD remake. The backgrounds are stills that were pre-rendered at a very low resolution (even the PC version), and the 3D character models are nothing more than a couple dozen colored triangles.

Overall, Silent Hill 3 (and probably 2) 720p with AA would look better than Homecoming.

Just because GOW 1 and 2 are going to be in 720p doesn't mean III will as well, right?

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus with the above specs + 60 fps would be amazing.

Dude, there's no reason a game that takes this long, has this much hype, and on a BD, shouldn't be in 1080p when the sheer massiveness of MGS4 was.

MGS4's native rendering resolution is 1024x768.

there are quite a few games i would like to see get a HD Ax2+trophies facelift. GOW would have been first choice though, followed by FFX.

I sold my copies of the first 2 games so I might have to pick this up. The trophies are especially enticing.

Don't know about GT5 yet, but GT5 Prologue is 1280x1080. I should note that there are a lot of variables that affect rendering resolution, and disk space, as is commonly assumed, is not one of them. Because racing games have a very tightly controlled environment (a single track with a set number of cars and no closeups on humans), it's usually easier to run them at a higher resolution. See also Wipeout HD, which really does run at 1920x1080p... most of the time (it can dynamically drop the resolution if too much happens at once).

If people want God of War III to have nice shader effects and lots of enemies on-screen at a high framerate, we'll have to deal with 720p.

My only GoW experience has been Chains of Olympus on PSP, but I really enjoyed it. I'll be picking this up ASAP!
