Default New top banner?

Isn't it time to switch to a more nicer looking top banner for the site. Maybe make a competition out of it?

Sounds like a great idea to me. I'll let the admins know about this thread.

Out of curiosity, are we potentially going to see advertising on the site/forums?

Our goal has always been to offer the best Blu-ray resource site possible with everything in one place. We're currently hard at work on a completely new site design/system which should shift the site from a small site with mostly static information to a larger more dynamic one with a database of movies/players/recorders/software/etc. We're also looking to integrate the forum with the site to build a great Blu-ray community for our registered members so that they will be able to post comments, rate/review stuff, report features, submit news, etc. The only problem with these grand plans is that they're taking some time to get done, but once the new web site is finished and online we're sure that everyone will be happy

I guess we'll have to re-visit the logo competition idea when the new design is finished and online, but the current proposal for the new Blu-ray.com logo looks like this

As for advertising, it depends on what other forms of revenue we might be able to come up with. We're not really big fans of advertising but we'll probably still need to add some ads in the future as the size and traffic of the web site grows. However, we're going to try and keep the ads to a minimum and we'll place them somewhere where they are less distracting such as the right hand side of the page. When it comes to ads in the forum I don't think that will be needed.

Most forums tend to do what I've got running as a minimum: http://forums.animeondvd.com

I ask mostly since it'd be something I'd be interested in, i.e. buying advertising space.

We don't want to say we will have it done by one time and then not be able to deliver it, so basically all I can say is when it's done

hehe

The complete system will probably take around 3 months, but we will put a working prototype (lacking some sections and features) online in about a month.
