Default Parent Trap (1961) $19.99 on Amazon

Amazon currently has the blu-ray of The Parent Trap (1961) FOR $19.99. Showing that it is sold by Amazon, not a third party.

So, I am curious if Amazon is getting additional stock from Disney since Disney closed the club. If so, perhaps some other club exclusives might make it to Amazon (?). Anyone have insights on this?

I wish all of these Disney Club movies would get better releases, would absolutely love a boutique label to pick up not just the Hayley Mills like Parent Trap, Summer Magic and of course Pollyanna but other films like Swiss Family Robinson or my personal favorite Return to Oz.

MovieZyng is AlliedVaughn, they made the discs to begin with. Them having any excess stock is to be expected.

Powers that be - if you're not going to give us Classic Disney movies/properties with nice extras, etc., how about at least getting movies like The Mighty Ducks films, Honey, I films, and others at least in Widescreen (correct aspect ratio) on Blu-ray at budget pricing. I never bought the DVDs of these since I think most are Full Screen and featureless.

Refresh my memory, but didn't this one sell out on DMC before it closed? It's encouraging to think they're keeping these in production, which being shipped and sold by amazon seems to imply. But, I'm surprised they haven't changed the art, if that's the case. The front's the same anyway. Amazon doesn't show the back, which is where Disney Movie Club Exclusive was denoted.

The three Ducks Blu-rays and two Honey Blu-rays DMC put out were all widescreen. So, if Sony is starting to put these back into production...

Just days before Disney announced they were closing out their Rewards program, I redeemed 900 points to buy this movie for my wife. They shipped the exact copy to me. When I checked on-line at Disney, there were only a handful of this label available at that time.

Seeing this disk selling for $19.99 right now shocks me. I was blessed by the DVD god's with my purchase.

It's been stated in other threads that what MovieZyng is selling is remaining Disney stock.

I don't know how the random stock popping up on Amazon fits into all this, whether Amazon took up some additional overstock direct from Disney or if Allied Vaughn is indeed supplying them. But, none of the titles which sold out in the months before DMC closed are among what MZ, or Amazon, have stocked now (Parent Trap '61 is one I specifically remember still being available, as I was surprised having noticed PT '98 ran out much sooner). So until we hear something new or see signs otherwise from MZ/Allied Vaughn, Sony or Mill Creek, the likes of Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Mighty Ducks, the Goofy Movies and so on are long gone.

I am at least somewhat hopeful in this situation though, because of the involvement of MovieZyng. I'm don't see why they of all storefronts would want to take so much stock off Disney's hands, unless they themselves are hoping that sales results could sway Disney into making a deal with Allied Vaughn to resurrect some of the titles they have now, and others. These are seemingly outside the scope of both the Sony and Mill Creek deals; as long as they're in this odd limbo, AV would be perfect to scoop them up if they can make the case to Disney. But I certainly don't think the 2024 release dates they're all given means there's any sort of commitment to printing these in the futute. The deeper I dove into MZ's listings, the more I saw that Allied Vaughn wouldn't be bothered (or more like expected) to print, like separate widescreen and full screen DVDs of Glory Road for example.

Super doubtful this is the re-emergence of new stock. DMC indicated they had ordered batches of prints of titles and I'm guessing some of this stock didn't make it to them until they had shut orders down. I can't imagine any reprints happening for titles with the DMC logo and movie rewards labels on them at this point. It obviously would make no sense. This seems more likely "old" stock not dissimilar from when some DMC stock showed up at Walmart, too.

Disney has made it pretty clear it has zero interest in publishing discs going forward and I'm skeptical Sony would be much inclined to print old catalog titles that would almost assuredly not attract any level of measurable sales numbers. Far better to stick to newer releases that benefit from theater advertising and being the current flick.

Hate to be the downer here. At least the dvds are out there and are all pretty cheap.

Not sure, but Disney Movie Insiders got like 2000 copies so they clearly had leftover stock regardless of whether they removed it.

There aren't a ton of the gold border DMC releases left at MovieZyng, but these are the ones that are remaining. Most, if not all, list them as DVD, but they're Blu-ray releases based on the UPCs.

The Apple Dumpling Gang
The Big Green
The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes
Flight of the Navigator
The Gnome Mobile
Ice Princess
I'll be Home for Christmas
The Journey of Natty Gann
The Kid
A Kid in King Arthur's Court
The Last Flight of Noah's Ark
The Pacifier
The Parent Trap (1961)
Snow Dogs
The Three Musketeers
Tom and Huck
Valiant

A random sampling of these, shows them on Amazon for $19.99 also. Now begins the wait until Cool Runnings show up.

Unlikely, if MovieZyng doesn't have it then I wouldn't expect Amazon to get any more copies. It's possible you might find a copy in a Walmart if they had any copies.
