Needs backlighting for use in my HT.
I have used my Harmony 659 with my PS3 since Nov 06. Like most people,... I bought a Ps2 remote and plugged the IR Reciever into one of my USB ports on the PS3 and then it worked. (I actually got a knock off PS2 remote control with reciever for $4 new but it works perfectly.) For most people using that solution the major complaint is turning the system on and off. Now you can turn the system off from within the XMB and I tend to turn on all my gear by hand apart from the projector. =Brian |

Am I the only person here who uses multiple remotes? Personaly I love the ps3 bluetooth remote. The other remotes I use came with the products. One for my audio reciever and my Dish network remote also controls my TV. As for not being backlit you just end up memorizing where the buttons are.

I use my Harmony 880 and my PS3 remote. I didn't feel like buying that Logitech PS3 unit. If the price comes down maybe. 2 remotes is way better than what I used to do. As we all know here the Harmony remotes are so easy to set up and use. My wife also loves the thing. She always tells me how glad she is that I got it.

It's not a Harmony killer because both remotes speak to different audiences.
I'd get a Harmony if it weren't so expensive. And if I didn't have to have to get an adapter for the PS3. I'd get this SMK if it got good reviews. I don't need a touch screen. Back lighting would be nice. Like people have said: This SMK is for the average joe who doesn't want to spend $150 to $500 on a remote control. For many people, this remote will do just fine. Some people prefer to have the best money can buy. And they buy Logitech. I'm in the middle. I'd rather spend the money on my equipment than on the remote. |
