OLEDs have been getting progressively brighter, albeit still far inferior to LED sets in that regard. My now 4 year old Phillips only maxes out at around 750. |

Does the 820 do 24p for DVD and do you use it? (I haven't checked). I had a revelation recently on my old Toshiba HD-XA2, that many discs look better with 24p output, movies mostly, but it reigns hell on the image if it's a real 60i image, easily seen on most menus especially. One set I found this out was watching the old Clerks cartoon. I also found some discs I swear must be progressive scan native because if you try and output them interlaced the picture has bad screen door effect, but in progressive mode it's smooth as butter.

Don't think the 820 can do that, unfortunately. My old BDT700 does, though.

Edit: I believe that the only UHD players that don't do 3D are the PS5 and XSX. Quote:
That may be true, but even the most adept videophiles would probably have a hard time discerning any PQ differences in a blind test. The 450 is perhaps the most decent basic player there is. Last edited by Bernardo A.; 01-01-2025 at 03:55 PM. |

The 450 supports the top menu trick. It doesn't support changing the remote code - it's on code 1. But if you can change your other players then that shouldn't be a problem

What's this about a remote code trick?

Anybody experienced settings for perfect match beetween LG CX and UB9000 ?
I dont understand if it is ok to use DTM LG/UB9000 optimizer ON for HDR Settings for Dolby Vision which is too bright/artificial with Dolby Vision Cinema e too dark with Cinema |

HDR optimizer settings have nothing to do with DV.

Maybe leave it on Dolby Vision bright, but turn down the TV backlight to suit?

if you are interested in comparison drives between UB820 and UB9000 with pics and here is a small write up by me : https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=15125 Also there is an extra integrated circuit chip on the PCB of the UB9000 and is not on the UB820 PCB and so I personally would not take a chance by putting it on the UB9000. Perhaps on boot up it would detect the drive but no function. And yes the UB9000 drive in the UB820 is nice and quieter and heftier than the UB820 drive. Cheers! ![]() |

The Luminance TV Type setting determines the nit value on where the HDR Optimizer will start working The Basic/Low LED is set at 500 nits. So, the Optimizer will tone map anything that is graded above 500 nits OLED as well as Medium is set at 1,000 nits. So anything that's graded above 1,000 nits will be tone mapped. Super High Luminance is set at 1,500 nits. So anything above 1,500 will be tone mapped by the Optimizer I would suggest switching between the OLED setting and Super High Luminance to see which one is better. Now the 2nd factor is the content being played. Some content will be graded lower or the same as the OLED Setting (1,000 nits). That means it won't do anything to the picture. You need to pick something that will change when using the Optimizer. I would suggest a movie that has a MAXLL of 1,500 nits or more. Or find a movie that had a mastering monitor of at least 4,000 nits. Some good examples: Hook, any of the Harry Potter films, some Marvel films. Once you find a good setting, keep it there. |
