At the end of the day regardless of how it flows. The alternate footage doesn't deserve to be forgotten or remain in VHS quality forever. It should be included in 4K or HD as a bonus feature to be preserved.

I don't think it needs to be forgotten. I just don't see the need to have a UK version included with any releases. Nothing wrong with having it as bonus deleted content.

I think it would be neat if they included the UK theatrical cut as a bonus in widescreen. The Ghostbusters Ultimate Collection 4Ks for example weren't even from a boutique label, yet they included the TV cuts for Ghostbusters (granted 1's TV cut was from the late 90's) and Ghostbusters II as bonuses. I don't think it's an unreasonable request. However if they included just the UK scenes in widescreen or really anything that isn't VHS quality, I would be fine with it. It would be nice if I could retire that old UK VHS rip I've had for years. Beyond that though. I just want a 4k transfer of the film that actually has love and effort put into remastering it. The current Blu-Ray we've had since 2009 is abysmal.

If Arrow were to release it, I could see them do the UK cut in 1080p and the Hero Turtles cut in 4K via branching (only 3 scenes require branching: opening titles, Splinter flashback, end credits).

I guess expecting to see the longer cut is expecting too much.

The film was never retitled "Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles" for the UK. Only the cartoon was. The film despite ALL the nunchaku cuts shared the Ninja title with the uncut version.

I know. I was referring to the Hero Turtles cut as seen on the Japanese home video release.

Ghostbusters had it's first cut included in the 2022 4k boxset. (wasn't even a boutique release either) So, maybe we can get the Steve Barron extended rough cut with this release as well. I guess that depends on how much Warner cares though. I don't know.

I've heard rumors that Steve Barron did a commentary track for the movie that was only on a German DVD.

If true, I hope it is on this upcoming 4k disc.

It's true, I own the German DVD, it does indeed contain a commentary track with Steve Barron. As well as the alternate versions of the scenes where the Turtles return home after their first battle and the apartment fight. As well as the alternate ending. I don't own the German DVDs of II and III, but Turtles II has a commentary track with Michael Pressman and it includes the "Behind the Shells" making of featurette from 1991. Turtles III has a commentary track with Stuart Gillard.

Could those commentaries have been ripped anywhere? It would be cool to hear them. Crazy that these movies get zero special features love in the movies' country of origin.
