What is wrong with the Patton BR? I've been thinking of getting that one. But I don't own it on DVD so it wouldn't be a double dip.

I'm not disputing it is a good transfer.Read what I'm saying. What I am disputing is that it's a 5/5.A 4/5 or a 4.5/5 in this rankingformat is what I would give it. That it is better than a DVD is IMHO a given on BD.

I surrender this thread.Just thought people was entitled their opinions here

I have no objection of you being of another opinion

Heavy DNR has been applied. I really enjoy the film, so if you plan on buying the movie the Blu is certainly better than the DVD, but a proper transfer could have been exceptional.

Dog Soldiers, hands down. Honestly, it makes Robocop and The Italian Job look a lot better than they actually are. I know DS is low budget, but damn! DVD is better, and I never thought I'd say that.

You have to consider the source. Reservoir Dogs doesn't look all that great on blu-ray, but it is far superior to the DVD, and looks very good given the technical attributes of that film.

Boondock Saints is hampered by it's source materials low-budget roots.

That is what I disagree with. It is a 5/5 transfer obviously in my opinion but also the majority of opinions out there.

Blade Runner was the reason I decided to start buying Blu-ray movies. It was one of the first few I picked up and typically the one I show to 'new' people who haven't seen Blu before.

That movie made me sad for other movies to be even loosely associated with it.

its hard to say some people expect jaw dropping material every time, and to be honest why shouldnt we, we pay top dollar for it, but I found Gangs of New York took way to much bad press, I just got the new release that came with the slipcover and DVD version and the Blu looks way better, yes theres some edge enhancement but its only noticeable to people who are really looking for it.

I can handle a little EE, the problem with Gangs of New York is the out-of-whack Contrast, fluctuating black levels, and DNR. Saying that the Blu-ray is better than the oft-considered worst DVD ever produced, isn't what I would call high praise.

The movie's SUPPOSED to look that way. I bet you're going to throw a conniption fit when Saving Private Ryan, FIGHT CLUB and Minority Report are released onto Blu-ray also since all three have INTENTIONAL heavy film grain. I take it you like the waxy mannequin look for everything?

I sold my Blu of Stargate also because it had almost zero grain, BD-25/MPEG2 and the 15th Anniversary is due in awhile.

One of the best Blu's I think which best represents the original intended look of the film is 12 MONKEYS, BLADE RUNNER (ALL cuts!), The OO7 titles I own so far, KING KONG (2005) and several others.

I want all these titles to look like FILM instead of cheap-arse overprocessed video. Only own GLADIATOR so as to take advantage of a possibly eventual disc replacement program.

Pan's Labyrinth USA Blu sucks shite since it's DNR'd to fook. Haven't seen the film but I'm gonna have to import. Same goes for the USA American Psycho again haven't seen but want to. AUS version looks great or summat.

For TOTAL RECALL, buy the release from the UK. It's Region A/B encoded. Don't people ever import?

Default bad blu

I have to say that Purple Rain sucked the big one. Gladiator is like a 4.5 video so don't believe all the bs.
