Default Where's Harryhausen?

After doing such an excellent job with 4 of stop motion animation master Ray Harryhausen's films (It Came From Beneath the Sea, Earth VS the Flying Saucers, 20 Million Miles to Earth, and The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad), Sony/Columbia let the well go dry! Where are such timeless classics as "Jason and the Argonauts", "Golden Voyage of Sinbad", "Mysterious Island", "The Three Worlds of Gulliver", "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" and "First Men IN the Moon"? And for Warner Brothers, Fox, and MGM...how about "Beast From 20,000 Fathoms", "Valley of Gwangi", "One Million Years B.C." and "Clash of the Titans"? Hopefully there are many more fans out there who are wondering "Where's More Harryhausen??"

Count me as another Harryhausen fan! And also wanting a release of the film which inspired Ray to get into special effects with stop motion is the original 1933 KING KONG. I own the Two-Disc Special Edition DVD. GREAT documentaries and interviews.

Kong arrives next year on blu-ray. I have a feeling the well ran dry on the Harryhausen titles because they are poor sellers.

Is that from the crappy Digital Bits bullshite rumour mill for the news on Kong '33 to be on Blu in 2010 or actually from a far more reliable source?

I bet Clash of the Titans will be released onto Blu when the remake is out next year. And possibly some of the more fantastical Harryhausen. Just making a wild guess more due to it'd be cross-promotion.

Jeez, got a problem with the Bits or something?

It's straight from Warner Brothers, actually, so chill out. To call The Digital Bits an unreliable source is a bit ridiculous. They're probably some of the most respected and reliable folks in the home video industry. They have been for over a decade now, so what's your beef?

My beef with them is they all think they're highly authoritive and I can't stand the site anymore. My signature has also been changed alot due to my non-support of The Digital Bits. Oh, someone is offended I have zero desire to not support them?!
I wait for official press releases for alot of things and not some site which PROBABLY treats all non-Region 1/A titles to be bootlegs. Yeah I import so what of it?
Now back to Harryhausen! Yeah I'd purchase all the Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans if they were to be released.
Isn't The 7th Voyage of Sinbad on Blu already?

So basically you don't support a site that provides news because they believe they're authoritative (which, in many cases they are)? Ok, guy...

I said I didn't want to talk about their bullshite site so drop it and get back to what this thread is about. OH NOES THE PEOPLE FROM THE DIGITAL BITS ARE GOING TO BANHAMMER ME! Don't call me guy, bub.

So think we'll get even more special features if WB releases Clash of the Titans on Blu to coincide with the remake?
I've also read on lddb.com Jason and the Argonauts: The Criterion Collection LD has differing special feature content compared to the DVD's.

Clash of the Titans was supposed to be released on HD DVD (and probably Blu-ray as well) a few years ago. I remember even seeing a finalized cover from Warner Home Video. After HD DVD lost the war, it seems the release was scrapped (at least for now).

They (Warner) probably deicided to wait until the remake hits theaters to release it.

EDIT: After a search, I found a UPC for the Blu-ray (012569796515), so it's probably finished and just awaiting release.

I'd bet it'd be released prior to the remake as you said but I think it might have some movie cash to the remake as an incentive to get people to buy the Blu-ray. I don't care, I'm still buying one of the movies my Momma rented for me and my siblings as I was growing up in the 1980's. Made me a huge fan of ancient mythological stuff.

We're down to the last 3. Any thoughts or news on The 3 Worlds of Gulliver, One Million Years, B.C., or The Valley of Gwangi coming to blu-ray this year?

Wow, surprised to see this thread I started back in 2009 resurrected! I must admit I am more than happy with what has followed since my initial posting. Most of Ray's films are now out, and pretty uniformly excellent Blu-rays to boot! I really think we will see the final three out this year. Three Worlds of Gulliver by TT is pretty much a given. An HD master is out there, and it is great! Unless Warner's Special Effects box release (and the individual titles which I bought (except for Them!)) was a bust, I think a volume 2 will include Valley of Gwangi. If we end up not going that route, Warner archives will step up to the plate. I think the one problematic title may be One Million Years B.C. Issues on what cut and in what shape they are in along with video rights seem to be plaguing this title. I think that if its going to happen, it will be through TT, and they will work to get it right since they are obviously Harryhausen fans.

Keep your fingers crossed, and we'll see how this plays out.

I saw how old this thread was but feel it's very relevant because all of Ray's films have not yet made it to blu-ray. I know I'm always going to do my part to make sure the powers that be know how much these movies mean to us and we want them on bd.

I'm not sure if you saw the TCM Harryhausen marathon recently but both The Valley of Gwangi and One Million Years, B.C. were presented in hd and looked amazing. So there's definitely hd masters of all three remaining movies. Best of all, they presented B.C. in the uncut version.
