Watched The Creator 4K last night, decent but is never going to challenge the greats. But for a budget of 60-80 million, it looked fantastic. Also, the
[Show spoiler]running robot bomb is one of the highlights of the year so far home video wise, fantastic sequence

Most of my 2024 purchases were older titles making it to Blu-ray or UHD Blu-ray. My newer titles that I liked were (in alphabetical order):

The Beekeeper
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3
Mad Max - Furiosa
Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One

Really glad these made it to UHD Blu-ray:

The Keep (only watched the first 10 minutes)
The Abyss

Godzilla Minus One is very good, superior to ANY modern U.S version.

OT projector post:

[Show spoiler]Finally got the JVC RS3200 video projector mounted using a block and tackle to hoist that beast into position. The operation is quite a bit different from the Sony so it will take awhile to learn the ins and outs and to tweak the URC remote programming.

For now I am using Filmmaker Mode and it looks outstanding. Very bright projector, I have the laser diode power set to 25 (scale 1 to 100). The few Blu-ray titles I have watched have an over sharpened look to them so I will see if the JVC and/or Zidoo has any settings to tone this down some. The singing scene with Rebecca Ferguson from The Greatest Showman on UHD Blu-ray looks surreal on this projector.

I am supposed to get my Stewart Filmscreen 2.35 138 inch screen next week to replace my Da-Lite 2.35 133 inch screen.

Loved that movie. It was cyberpunk awesomeness.

@ 16:00 he talks about the process and shows some proof of concept sequences. Great stuff.

Felt like it was a patchwork quilt of parts from superior films to be honest mate. Would have loved to see the running robots in a better film though, awesome creation.

I've been having a blast dialing in my new ( to me) NZ7... there are a million combinations and permutations to consider between the ZIDOO and the projector that each require their own evaluations of test material...I was up until 2 this morning evaluating my latest gamma AUTOCAL calibration... can't wipe the smile from my face today even with the lack of sleep after having to get up at 7 this morning to drive my son down to the courthouse (he's been selected for jury duty, unlike the reasons I would have been there at his age..lol.)...

Wendell, I'm assuming you've seen SAPIENDUT's video that I linked to in the thread about the 3200? The way I do things, I'll be keeping an eye on that one like I did with the relevant NZ7 thread as it'll be sometime until I step into that level..ie when you guys start selling off your units in favour of the next great thing

In our golden years I passed on this one because we do not like to read a movie. If they had done a Atmos track with a English dub then may have rented it.

Some movies are worth reading and this is one of them. The dialog is an easy read in this case, too.

The standard 4K edition does include a more than serviceable English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. The movie is definitely worth at least a rental.

I enjoy monster movies quite a lot.

Godzilla Minus One is easily my favorite Godzilla movie. I recommend it also.

Are you picking up Into The Deep? The new shark film starring Scout Taylor Compton? (Laurie in Rob Zombie’s Halloween films)

Characters are much stronger than U.S attempts.

Doesn't seem to be getting a US release unless they have a different name for it. It does look like a fun movie and I will look into it.

Thanks, she needs that transplant, but the complications mean it’s a difficult situation. Her bladder needs to settle down, but constant infections acting against that.
