If you still have the WARNER pre-cert tape of "SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA" there is a similarity between the insert art sleeve for it and "The Beast Within" in regards to a still shot on the back of the sleeve for both movies that is not actually seen on the videocassette.

The still shot on the back of the "Satanic Rites" sleeve shows the staking when Michael Coles 'stakes' Valerie Van Ost . . . but, of course, that short bit is not seen on the tape. The BBFC really enjoyed their power position to censor and order /cuts/.

No sadly, but I've owned the uncut & cut versions of RED SONJA & THE BEASTMASTER on the Thorn EMI label, no way to tel them apart till you played them. This also applied in the case of my VTC release copies of END GAME. I believe Thorn EMI also released THE BURNING in two versions .

The cut versions of The Burning has a date stamp on it. I have a cut VHs, and an uncut v2000, which is signed by Tom Savini.

By Endgame, you're referring to the Italian film? I have a vtc tape of that and wasn't aware there were different editions. Also have the tapes of Beastmaster and Red Sonja, and was once again not aware of different cuts. Knowing my luck I have the cut versions in all cases.

Edit - the Pre-Cert site doesn't list any variations on Beastmaster, but does mention about Endgame having a variation with more gore. I guess the SeverinnBD is at least the complete version.
I did have a dodgy sell-thru tape of it that for some reason stopped playing and went black screen at one point, then started again. That aside, as far as I could tell, it was the same as the VTC one.
I have a digital copy from Troma via Amazon as well but haven't watched it yet.

I have a couple of other releases of SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA, The (1973-UK) that I also picked up, but I'll always be fond of the WARNER pre-cert despite the /cut'. Picked it up long ago for a couple of quid (this would've been in 2006) and the shipping cost to the U.S.A. was more than what the tape cost me -- but the shipping was less back then, too, so it didn't cost me too much to pile up some pre-certs. Some 425 pre-certs in all.

I know you've still got some Pre-Certs, EIDOLON. Quite a few if I remember rightly.

The uncut tape of The Beastmaster is around 2 minutes longer. It restores a shot of topless nudity during the barbarian attack on Dar's village, shots of impaled bodies in the aftermath & Tanya Robert's brief topless scene, so easy to check out . Red Sonja removed two decapitations, the second more explicit one is in slow motion. End Game the post Apocalypse Italian lost an axe to the head shot, forcible breast exposure during an assault, a headtwisting 'mercy' killing & a headshot exit wound.

I've definitely got the cut version of Beastmaster then, as I'd have remembered Tanya Roberts' topless scene. So which version is on the Warner/Weintraub sell-thru tape?

This film badly needs a remaster, same as Squirm, which also got a Kino Cult re-release. I was 100% certain Squirm would get a 4K, a little less confident about Beast Within but nope. I don't have high hopes of either of these two getting fresh Arrow scans - they're not the same label they were when they released Squirm.

I'm salty that Kino got Squirm and The Beast Within & regurgitated those ancient HD masters.

Was deeply worried the same was gonna happened to Deranged but thankfully Vinegar Syndrome gave it a much needed 4K here in the US.

That's cut identically. The Five Star Entertainment dvd released here was uncut. Back on topic, it's surprising Mora's subsequent films are vastly inferior to THE BEAST WITHIN, though they are guilty pleasures.
