It would look awesome.....but are you going to use it to power your fronts?

I know its a big jump in price (about twice as much or more), but why not look at least to the XPA-3 to power your fronts and center or even the XPA-5 where you could bi-amp the fronts and power the center as well? I think you would get more bang for the buck doing it this way out of your audio, than with the UPA-2. It would be either of these 2 for me, just eventually some day down the road....

That way you could get a clean powerful sound from your front soundstage, and then you could let your Elite 27 easily power the surrounds.

Default Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH vs Denon AVR-2310CI

Need a little help choosing between these two receivers;
Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH vs Denon AVR-2310CI

I currently own a Marantz SR7400, PS3, Samsung 46" LCD 1080p 120hz and B&W Speakers:
DM604 S3 - Front
DM602 S3 - Rear
LCR600 S3 - Center
Velodyne DLS 10 - Sub

Thank you for any input, advice, suggestions.

Elite 23 over the Denon 2310 because:
It has more watts per channel
Has pre outs for an external amp (or two or three )
THX Select 2 Plus processing
Energy star qualified
Certified for Apple iPhone

*(subjective)
The Elite sounded better when I auditioned both in store.
It had the right dimensions to fit my cabinet
I prefer MCACC over Audyssey.

+1....I couldn't agree or have said it better....I will also throw in that the ICE amps are extremely efficient and that Pioneer is very accurate with their power ratings, even when running 5 or 7 channels. Pioneer is my recommendation...

What are the main differences in the Elite VSX-23TXH and the Elite VSX-21TXH. Is it only more HDMI connections and such? Is the performance identical?

I think its a few more bells and whistles, nothing more. I know it's that way between the 07 and 05 except for maybe that the 07 has an extra 5 watts per channel and is THX Ultra 2 certified and the 05 is THX Select2 certified. But in general, these are relatively small differences. Hec, the 07 and 05 share the same user manual. So I believe it is basically the same kind of differences between the 21 and 23.

Thanks Fors! I'm also thinking of getting the 21 and then down the road getting a Emotiva XPA-3 for the front soundstage and using the 21 to power the surrounds.

I have been thinking lately of amps and the XPA-3 is a nice way to break in. I really want the XPA-5, but at twice $$$$($600 vs $300), it makes it tough to do since that extra $300 would be only for powering my side surrounds really.

I thought the XPA-3 was $600 and the XPA-5 was $800, but I only looked on Emotiva's site.

You are right, I had the UPA-2 in mind vs the XPA-3.......my mistake! Plus I think the XPA-5 is out of stock until the 10th. If they came out with a UPA-3, I would probably jump on it now....
