Working on a limited budget Jonathan has produced a very enjoyable adult retelling of the Bambi story with affective 3D animation which includes some nice popouts.

Thanks for the information on it, Joe. It mentions feature film. Is this about 90 minutes for the runtime, or shorter? Does the 3D look natively rendered or converted?

It is 40 minutes for the main runtime, and an hour 49 minutes with extras. It is native 3D (outside of a few shots totaling a few seconds).

Thanks. Nice work completing a film at that length. No easy task and then the 3D editing. Natively rendered from each camera, nice. Controlling the 3D camera within the computer software takes practice and skill for a variety of shots and perspectives and adapting camera and character positions in the foreground, mid and background, sometimes adapting the 3D strength to adjust for the situations.

Like when a character in the foreground runs far into the background. When they're really close, the 3D strength being adjusted to not over-strengthen the 3D, but when further away, possibly increasing the 3D strength so it doesn't go flat with weaker 3D interaxial distance between the 3D cameras/set up. But instead, moving the cameras further apart for stronger 3D.

What was the biggest challenge for you when aligning the 3D interaxial distance between the parallel 3D rig or a mirror 3D rig set up? Did you set up the 3D camera yourself, or was there software that already had that feature? Virtual 3D cameras not limited like real cameras would be, so a virtual 3D parallel rig works well for most CGI animated stereo 3D films.

Sounds interesting, thanks.

There weren't virtual cameras involved because it actually wasn't made in a virtual/CGI environment, but rather using different layers. To your point about adjusting depth though, yes, parallax & window placement varies by type of shot, & when needed keyframed 3D adjustment was used.

Interesting, thanks for the details on how you were able to create the 3D effects.
