Apparently the main guy at MS could not say that Starfield won't migrate to PS5 eventually. That game is just okay and sadly one of the "not best effort" from Bethesda Softworks, and not as good as their other games but a step backwards IMO into No Man's Sky territory. I'll just say Mass Effect 1 remastered is a MUCH better game overall, having completed both Starfield (on PC) and Mass Effect 1. Starfield's story is mostly a fetch mission for parts, and then very repetitious too.

No word on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or 2024 versions. Those would be great on PS5. They're "online only" but you can play them disconnected at the cost of less details from no satellite images when online. PS5 could handle it.

Bring Blade 2027 to PS5 too please from MS XBSX. If that stays on target.

Bring over Crackdown 3 too. I'd like to play that one.

The XBSX could be the last console of Microsoft? Or they'll just make it more of a PC in the future. I would have hated to buy a console for Starfield on XB only to see it eventually port to PS5 if I had both consoles. I can see why some sold their XBSX consoles.

Have two consoles the same generation is too much space for me, but others enjoy the variety of games. Which seems to be less of a point now that MS is porting their games to PS5.

I wonder if MS might consider a remake of Prototype and release that for both consoles. It was basically a similar game to Infamous and considering Sucker Punch probably are done with that IP for now, i'd love to see something similar return. In fact, if Forza sells well, i think this will give them confidence in bringing many more games.

Again, there will be games that will continue to cross over. Until stuff is announced, it’s all just pointless speculation. Phil Spencer said in two different interviews that it WOULDN’T be everything, but that there was also nothing out of consideration. And his point of saying that was that he didn’t want to be on record saying, “Such and such game is not going” but then they make the decision a year or two later. Or 6 months later. Whatever. According to most of these “leaks”, Halo, Gears and everything else was supposed to drop on PS5 LAST YEAR. And people keep pushing the stories, whether true or fake, because they always get tons of attention and tons of clicks.

What people have to realize is that Microsoft is walking a fine line, currently. The business model has been “exclusives” for so long, that trying to adapt to how the industry is changing, with less exclusives, has to be a slow process. This is why so far, they’ve either released games that have been on Xbox for a while or they’ve announced some titles on a delay, or new titles that have existing entries on other platforms. But Xbox users will still be able to play on Game Pass on day 1. Here’s the thing, yes, they want to sell those older games. But they also want to keep their current Xbox user base, because that’s still where the majority of their Game Pass subscribers come from. If they start dropping EVERYTHING right away on PlayStation, they know a lot of their current subscribers will start selling their Xboxes. So this is a balancing act.

I've kinda also covered your post in another post i made to say Microsoft clearly see financial payoffs in releasing to PlayStation whereas Sony do not see it the same way releasing on Xbox. So for Xbox they don't even from all insider chatter right now have hardware contracts inked for a next gen machine. This generation and what they do once PS6 is due to launch will probably decide everything moving forwards for them. My guess is that Xbox may decide to go the Steamdeck/Switch route as far as hardware is concerned and use Gamepass as a service they can stream on TVs etc. with Sony taking the more traditional approach of fixed hardware and Nintendo doing a bit of a hybrid given the Switch 2 specs.

Ultimately Xbox games coming to PlayStation probably net them far more money and give their huge and imo ill advised gambit to buy Activision Blizzard for the fee they did, it was never going to work only having Xbox exclusives and going to PC.

Yeah it is odd that both Ori games still haven't been ported to PS5 yet.

Wait, when did they give a 2027 release window for the Blade video game?

-Horizon Realms free content update coming to all platforms
Hopefully it’ll utilize the Dualsense haptics and trigger effects- then I’ll buy.

I haven’t read the article yet, but will there be a physical release?

The Forza series since Xbox One have used Impulse Triggers, a precursor to the adaptive triggers on DualSense controllers so you can count on it.

How so?

I read one story that said it couldn't be done bc it uses a 360 Emulator set up for X1, but I had trouble believing it on grounds of the PS4 and X1 being more or less the same, and the Series X/S and PS5 just being more advanced versions of the 8th gen systems. They're all AMD-made, x86-64 Bit, APU setups. I should think any emulator made for 1 of them could be made for all the others.

Agreed, the power is certainly there to run Xbox 360 games via emulation, and that applies to PS3 as well (surprised there isn't a bigger push for that on a PlayStation forum). The 9 external Xbox 360 games (and single internal Xbox Original) would make it more complicated though, that's what I meant, even if it is a solvable problem.

It would be interesting if this collection did get ported because that would also mean the collection gets released on the (PC) Xbox app, Steam, and (probably) Nintendo Switch 2. I just suspect the Xbox ports coming to to PS5 will be a combination of "most likely to make money" and "least effort required." Who knows what metrics Microsoft is actually using to determine what games get ported and where Rare Replay fits into those equations...

Microsoft has today announced it'll be releasing PS5 ports of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and Age of Mythology: Retold in the coming months. The former will launch for PS5 in Spring 2025, and the latter is out on 4th March 2025.
Another of the rumored games coming to PS5 has been officially announced, I think it bodes well for some of the other rumored games

I honestly thought those games were already on PlayStation. I think they're RTS games usually with a title like that so mentally tune them out.

I don't think of it as a good or bad thing to indicate the quality of a next title. Forza was a big IP exclusive to come to PlayStation so they've probably hedged it would be better to release some more less known titles between big names. Soften to fandom shock imo.

Or they know it'll sell decently since the genre isn't widely represented on the console. Civ 6 sold well on Switch of all places.

Honestly i think Nintendo flies under the radar of most "mature gamers" because of the association of PlayStation and Xbox generally being seen as the "mature" consoles for games but i literally just read how the Switch is probably near touching distance of PS2 all time sales and with that, they definitely have a sizeable amount of older gamers that probably have an appetite for those sort of games they can take with them on the go. Games you can start, have a quick 15 minute play and rest to continue on from etc. and carry on again whenever.

That said, i think the bigger bias usually might be the "power wars" of hardware specs which are closing down these days. Interested to see how Switch 2 holds up. Nintendo might actually be the sort of Steam Deck of consoles as it were if the Switch kinda didn't already hold that appeal.

They directly address the SONY fans. Good to see.

"There's so much more to be honest, that we still have yet to share, but we just wanted to give the Sony fans something special as we head into launch. We cannot wait to share this experience with you [...] it plays fantastic on the PlayStation 5, and of course, the PlayStation 5 Pro."
Quote:
It seems, based on this trailer and an accompanying email we've received, that Bethesda has collaborated directly with PlayStation on this - which just feels a bit odd for an Xbox first-party title. We've just gone into detail about how the team's new multiplatform strategy is starting to make sense — particularly for the games themselves — but Microsoft's marketing might need a bit more work to make Xbox fans feel like they remain a primary focus.
Not really sure why folks complain about MS/Bethesda and SONY working directly together on this. I buy all consoles. I don't buy an Xbox for exclusives, I buy it for the UI and ecosystem. If Xbox selling more games everywhere keeps the bean counters happy enough to continue making more hardware, I'm fine.

Yeah, it's just weird that the writers think it's "a bit odd." Bethesda clearly partnered with Sony in the past, any reason we shouldn't expect id/Bethesda/Xbox to be professionals here and work with the platform holder to deliver the best experience possible?

None of the announced/released ports have caught my interest *yet*, but there's a few in the catalog that if ported/remastered I would grab for sure.

Doom was always on PlayStation for the previous entries they did and now that Bethesda, or rather Xbox games in general are on PlayStation including Forza which is a highly first party title, it makes complete sense a company that was primarily third party still has its games come to all.

It’s weird seeing my Xbox handle in Forza on PlayStation.

Aside from that, game looks great on Pro in 60 mode.

It’s large file size though. 156GB + 2.1GB save file.

Only criticisms I have is it be nice to make manual saves.. + there is an idle online timer which is kinda dumb.
