As of late, I've read some interesting things about the massive Pinnacle Towers. Despite being labeled as a 6 ohm speaker, apparently they dip down below a 4 ohm load (in some cases, 3 ohms) which is pretty taxing on an amplifier. You'd have to get something pretty damn hefty to push them hard enough to eek all that energy out of them.

I asked for an impedance graph, and the lowest point seems to be at about 2.5 ohms at around 80–90Hz

This doesn't surprise me given their specs. But I'm glad I forgot about them after all that chatter we all had previously in this thread when they were releasing as I was seriously considering getting them. My 2-channel amp, which is class-H and technically a dual-monoblock design, is otherwise only rated to 4 Ohm. I sometimes yearn for an old setup from years ago, which had AudioSource monoblocks that could probably drive a fridge.

I too was admiring them from afar as I have a serious case of upgrade-itis as my basement speaker system is over 20+ years old. That being said, I'm not a fan of buying the first iteration of anything and after reading about the 6 ohm specs, I began to dig in a little bit more and then hit upon the reviews above which gave me pause.

Oh 100%! This forum was big-time responsible for my "evolving system" back during it's audio-heyday. I went through an AVR, 3 pre-pros, and 2 analog stereo pre-amps in a matter of 5 years. And that was just my main setup.

I remember those days.... went thru the same thing. Hec, YOU are the reason I have my Rockets (literally). Had them 14 years now....still looking good and sound even better. To stay on point...my SVS Elevation speakers have been on point with supplying the Atmos sound field in those scenes that demand it.

I remember! Yeah I can't believe how long its been. I still have mine, but they are upstairs in the loft now. My son uses them with his turntable when he's not away at college. Seems he inherited the audio bug.

I'd like to try out a set of the Prime Elevation, but yikes they went up in price. And they were already pricey to begin with.

I can't remember, does SVS have any B-stock? I remember Emotiva used to have a good selection of B-stock. But if SVS does have B-stock, you might get a better price there for the Elevations.
