I'm so glad Turbine made all the corrections they did! <3 I was always scared off by reviews of the Scream Factory pressing, and wasn't sure which of theirs would be corrected on the secondary market. These changes go well beyond Scream's correction, too.

I for one really enjoy the Shout 3-D disc, and have watched it several times with company. Yes, a lot of the more ridiculous 3-D effects are misaligned, but I saw it in the theater as a kid, and it's how I recall it looking then; it wasn't perfect, and the disc is probably true to the production.

I'll probably still buy this release too. Having those things corrected can't hurt, and it will be easier on the eyes. Most of the 3-D Film Archive's restorations likely look/"work" better than the theatrical releases, and the world is a better place for it.

I know the SF release isn't in red/blue anaglyph. I hope this new release will. I watched the Vinegar Syndrome Flesh For Frankenstein 3-D with the glasses they came with and it's done pretty good for the 3-D affect on their part. I remember the bats coming out of the tv and it made me jump lol. note yes I watched the full movie in red/blue and it was fine.

From the newsletter about the new release:

FRIDAY THE 13th: PART 3 from 1982 is impressive in 3D, not least because of its insane pop-out effects, in which objects appear to protrude from the screen. Previous releases of the film had to struggle with significant distortions. Such errors in the 3D presentation do not necessarily lead to a complete loss of the 3D effect, because the brain has a certain tolerance. But watching flawed 3D footage is exhausting and causes headaches in the long run.

For the Blu-ray 3D release, Turbine therefore had extensive corrections and improvements made to the existing 3D master. The image was adjusted in the parameters Horizontal Position, Vertical Position, Zoom, Rotation, Keystone X, Keystone Y and Trim. These optimizations were carried out jointly for both eyes as well as separately for the left and right, making a total of 21 parameters per image setting. The image parameters were adjusted scene by scene when the camera was static. If the camera moved through a scene, changing its angle or using the zoom, these 21 parameters had to be adjusted for each position. The parameters were first determined automatically using a 3D correction system and then manually fine-tuned.

The movie has certainly not looked better in 3D since its theatrical release in 1982.
These corrections seem like they will be really incredible!

It's not going to be anaglyph. If you want the anaglyph version you have to buy one of the existing anaglyph DVDs or Blu-rays.

When reading back some time ago here I thought the consensus was it's pretty decent after the corrected disc fixed problems. But now it seems there's a massive room for improvement. I dont know if its limited to 3D sets, passive vs active, viewing environment, users, etc. It seems though that it is arguable how good or bad the disc was, as some note it looked pretty good. I do note that Robert had commented a while back in this thread that there are many issues with it, and his is the gold standard assesment in my book. Just note that I am an unsophisticated audience.
Maybe someday Robert (3DFA) will buy a copy himself or borrow one and drop a line here about Turbine's work on this new one, otherwise we wont get a definitive answer.

Buying it direct from Turbine. Their site is easy to use, you won't have customs issues and their customer service is excellent.

Interesting to see that it's region free. I wonder why Paramount didn't mind turbine releasing it unlocked, whereas the Shout one was...
...oh yes, because Cliff MacMillan region locks absolutely everything, from BCI-Eclipse/Deimos through to Shout, regardless of if the licensor requests it or not. Insane policy.

Things sound good so far, I guess they won't have been able to fix the zoom that's in the Part2 pre-title sequence though.

Most importantly it doesn't take 6-12 months to get to market. They just walk the walk and announce titles right before release, the most productive 3D company at this point hands down. They're moving and I like it

Is there any other company on Earth that has released 12x 3DBD within a calandar year since..... I don't know...? Hell, when was the last time anyone released 12x 3D movies within 12 months?

Actually, 9 months. First Turbine 3D wave came out May 23rd 2024, and the fourth wave is scheduled for February 27th 2025.

After reading the F 13 review I want to update my order to the bundle because I originally ordered just the TMNT and Scream discs individually (I own the SF set). I can’t find the option to cancel the order I placed already on the site. Any help would be awesome.
