So you're saying you were fine with the concept of the reclusive Luke, feeling despondent, guilty and responsible for his nephew's fall to the dark side and reluctant to train Rey, or any more Jedi, for fear of bringing more calamity to the galaxy than he feels he already has. (all of which was already mentioned in The Force Awakens, by the way)

Not my take on the force awakens . I would also hate your version of the force awakens i guess

The Force Awakens literally tells us that Luke had a pupil who turned to the dark side and destroyed his academy. Luke had blamed himself, turned his back on everything, and walked off into the wilderness. What did folk expect? Luke to be clicking his heels and whistling yub-nub out of his arseh-le?
