What has happened is this: Samsung has failed to provide firmware support for all of their older players. The Samsung 1000 and 1200 are notorious for their history of failing to play BD movies, not as of now, but as of over a year and a half ago. Samsung has an ongoing lawsuit due to their reluctance to support those players. I own a Samsung 1400, and it will not play some of the newer Sony movies. I have contacted Samsung Support, and that is the biggest waste of time anyone can possibly imagine. My brother owns a Sony 300S which was bought the same week, I purchased the Samsung...he can watch all of the BD movies in it. The new Samsung BD models are fine for now, but who knows about six months in the future. Why take the chance?
