I noticed it was $45 at Walmart also. I would consider this a Blu Ray release as much as a UHD BD given it contains the Blu and the price is somewhat random.

I love the movie.
I'll take the 1080p Blu-ray off your hands...

To each their own on those two. I've already had enough of the whining in the dedicated threads.

Even if I had left those out of my order, I still would have gotten the Fincher 4K steels and Jackie Brown 4K on sale AND with the 25% discount on top. It's win-win either way.

I'm in-between. Yesterday was a routine neurology follow-up appointment and, yes, I got hit with their reflex hammer. Neurologically, I am neither better or worse.

Thursday in the bitter cold of the pre-dawn morning I head back for my drug trial and then again on Friday for my lower back nerve burning procedure. I will have to stay with a friend for a day after the back procedure.

It feels like my personal Winter Olympics this month.

Movies Unlimited is under the Alliance Entertainment banner (I believe), and are also owned by the same company that owns Deep Discount and so on. They all ship out of Shepherdsville, KY.

One thing to note, because I was affected a bit, is that they may run low on stock sometimes. I had to wait several weeks for the Kill Bills and Jackie Brown 4Ks to arrive because they underestimated demand. When they finally shipped they were boxed securely and shipped out as they were re-stocked. I received free shipping, as well, as they all became available again.

I found both of the Kill Bill 4K discs to be a big improvement over the ancient blu-rays. The highlights on the blu-rays are blown-out and clipped leaving masses of glowing indistinct blobs that obliterate detail. The 4K discs are vastly better in this regard.

From Geoff D's review in the Kill Bill Vol. 1 4K disc thread regarding the blu-ray:

"The BD has some of the most startlingly clipped highlights I've ever seen on SDR, and I'm not exaggerating."

"there's strong lighting then there's half the picture being obliterated by clipping."

"Most of the surfaces in Vernita's gleaming white kitchen are just gone in the SDR, even on the reverse angle of The Bride mopping up her injuries the bottom of the white door behind is missing from halfway down in a blaze of light. The skies in the SDR are virtually non-existent, there's just a blank white haze."

"It's ridiculous is what it is, and it doesn't stop there as many light sources in the movie are just an empty white blob on the wall or ceiling in SDR."

His summary about the 4K discs:

"And yet...the improvement the UHD brings in terms of HDR is astonishing to my eyes, taking one of the most badly blown-out SDR transfers I've ever seen and restoring masses of highlight detail."

While he did find plenty of faults with the 4K discs he concluded with:

"I get distracted by the smearing on the UHD for sure, but I get distracted by the extensive highlight clipping on the BD *and* its own inherent smearing problems, so I'll pick the UHD for future viewing as the one which is least offensive to my own sensibilities. Either way it's a sad fate for such a wonderfully enjoyable popcorn flick such as this."

His full review can be found here:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1750

and for Kill Bill Vol. 2 here:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=238

Again, after I compared both the blu-ray with the 4K discs on my calibrated 85" Sony Bravia 9 TV I, too, prefer the 4K discs and by a wide margin.

Default More bad news for DVD and Blu-ray!

Well with only two major Player Manufactures and no new Players coming out, is it time to take a serious look at Physical Media? With only Amazon Prime, Netflix, AppleTV+, and IPTV I can watch just about any Movie. Here is another Article that Streaming is taking over!

Nope, that's more clickbait nonsense, as usual.

I mentioned last time that folks can and should just buy themselves a couple of backup players and they'll be more than ok for many years to come.

As far as media goes, well, I see boutique labels (just for example) raking in all the cash even at their higher premium prices. The major studios could also rake it in but they have to crank out those new rleeases and catalog titles, so that's on them.

Maybe that will stop once a recession/tariffs hit? Could happen. I'll wait and see.

I just watched the new Constantine 4K disc and it was excellent. It also came with a 4K digital copy, which was redeemed. See, I can have it both ways, too.

Streaming can take over your theater Alchav.

Mine will have lossless audio and better video.

I use both streaming and disc of course. Discs in my theater and online copies everywhere else. It's pretty simple.

I just got 3 great movies online for free via codes included with my UHD BDs.

Actually, you can't. Not even close. Thousands of movies are not available on streaming. I have hundreds of titles on disc that you can not stream just in my own collection.

If you want to check and see if a title can be streamed just visit:

https://www.justwatch.com/

and do a simple search.

If you *really* want to maximize your selection, you do what most of us do: you use both physical and digital. Fine dining being the former and junk food being the latter.

It's 3 degrees Fahrenheit and time to leave for the hospital. 5+ hours hooked to an IV awaits me.

Try not to in the meantime.

The thread for Panic Room 4K is hilariously hyperbolic; this is becoming the norm anymore. Find faults, magnify them 1,000 fold, and then freak the hell out.

I know, some member even called it a botch job!

It’s hilarious at this point, I have no doubt the film will look sweet.

Well, If the UHD is bad I"m glad to have the BD and if that's bad I'm glad I still have the DVD.

I don't go looking at the threads full of people who are never happy with any new release. I just buy and watch and see for myself.

Most of the time I'm happy in fact lately I've been very happy despite the news of the world.

I will watch Panic Room tonight and report back if it's botched and I can tell.

A great film. I still have the DVD which I thought looked very good at the time (by DVD standards). However I never upgraded to blu-ray for some reason, so the 4K looks really tempting.

Same, I am filling the gaps with catalogue 4K as I’m quite happy with many Blu-ray transfers. This one qualifies as a must have over my old DVD.

Picked up E.T 4K a few weeks back. For some reason I never upgraded the DVD.

In 1984 started renting movie titles that looked interesting and purchased most titles that were worthy of repeat viewing. For more than 20 years now my mail box is as far as I have to go to see new titles (and few old).
