One of which is Brotherhood of the Wolf. I have it on HD, and it looks great.

I would LOVE to see "Forbidden Planet" on BLU (never jumped on the HD-DVD bandwagon) and I hope Universal doesn't release "Spartacus." I hope Criterion does the release for that film.

Are there any particular reasons for us not seeing some good movies on blu that were original released on HDDVD?

The Sting
Atonement
Stardust

The Deer Hunter (Universal's edition because it has been already released in lots of countries by other studios).

I am not sure but it could be Universal's licsnsing deal with Toshiba and HD DVD that could be holding titles back.

i know i will get alot of ppl mad for this...but i kinda wish hd dvd and blu ray could both still be here....I would own both...same with xbox and ps...i have both...i like some features about both...same as hd dvd and blu...there was some hd dvds that i liked better than the blu version...whether it be the packaging looked better...or i thought the overall extras and picture...

i dont like just one dominating force..then they wont fight to put deals out and all that...thats just me tho...

I like both as well. I have a Toshiba XA-2 HD-DVD player, and an Oppo BD83 for Blu Ray. Either way I'm covered.

The different studios that release on Blu drive each other's prices down. Same for hardware manufactures that put out players.

Okay, good point. If that is the case, Toshiba should let it go...

Excalibur and Galaxina.
I just bought Excalibur last month for $4 new. Great movie that is still waiting for a blu release.
And I recently got Galaxina from Blockbuster Online. BCI did a great job with the transfer. It looked great on my Pioneer, even if it was only 1080i (HD-A3).

Yes i know i own it,bought it so i could sell my hd dvd version but after viewing i noticed dnr had been added .Trust me it might be the same transfer but Dnr was added and this is the reason i still own the hd dvd by studio canal which as not been touched with dnr.
Some might perfer the less grainy version but not me and thats why i treat this version as gold dust.

I suspect the reason may be related to the fact that many HD-DVD exclusives did not sell well. I suspect Universal "lost money" on many of its plethora of HD-DVD releases and Toshiba likely covered their losses. It may be a while before the guys in accounting let the studio re-release these titles. Many of these movies would likely be profitable on blu-ray, but I doubt Universal would want to take the risk at this time.

Warner Brothers, on the other hand, has no excuse.

+1
Many of the unreleased HD DVD's just did not sell at all. Studios are being more cautious with all releases now.
