I am not a fan of college football, but I do in fact follow it due to the fact that I live in Alabama, the state where people live and breath Alabama/Auburn football.

Anyways, in my opinion, the SEC is by far the best conference that college football has to offer year in and year out. I wtch every conference on every gameday and from what I ahve seen, the SEC just kills any other conference.

I wish I lived in another state. The next five months will be tough.

Ahhh, here we go again with more SEC lovefest. I see enough of it on ESPN.
By the way hope the games tomorrow live up to the hype because the games thus far have been aweful. Still haven't seen a team that is very good yet. Watching Tulsa/Tulane at the moment and it's a borefest.

What are the chances that in 2014 a playoff system is instituted? I find it very challenging to find a true national champion without a playoff system that at the very least includes all the conference champions. I think a playoff system should also include a couple of 'wildcard' type of slots. If we could get a system similar to that after the current BCS contract runs out, I will be one happy football fan.

GJ Navy way to prove osu is once again overrated, top 10 teams should never have such a close game with an academy school.

that hit on Dez was classic sec defense wow, Also Joe Cox looks like he's going to be a great QB, flu and still fired up, I'm sure they'll get a NC if they can stay healthy and keep him their for 4 years.

I was worried USC might not be rolling watching them continuously hand off but good old pete, just breaking in the running game...

What a surprise, OU got outcoached AGAIN! This game was a mirror image of the past BCS games. BYU wanted it more. It's getting ridiculous.

However, atleast my other team, OSU, won. They should be 7-0 going into the Texas game and they get them in Stillwater. OSU has a legit shot at making title run this year.

Marylands getting exposed so much for fridge playcalling I think its time we steal urban

Bama looked great except for some self inflicted mistakes 500 yards, and they missed some wide open plays. They aren't national champion ready yet, but next year... watch out sec

I think Mark Ingram has to be mentioned in the mix for the Heisman after he almost single-handedly got Alabama out ahead of Va. Tech. Tech just looked horrible, I was surprised the score was as close as it was.

Nebraska was a little sluggish to start out, but the offense got their feet wet, and looked pretty good. The defense kept the scoring down, but that was still a big chuck of yardage they gave up. Looking forward to Virginia Tech in a couple weeks. After watching them against Alabama, I'm confident we can make a game of it.

Starscream, your two favorite teams are Oklahoma and Oklahoma State? Don't care about rivalries?

Up the Irons!!!

while he is fun to watch, I want to see more of the backup Richardson. After they were talking about how this kid broke Emmit Smith's high school records in Florida, then he comes into the game when Ingram looked hurt...Alabama was just putting the game away by running out the clock, so it was obvious run plays, but Richardson was gaining 3-4 yards after first contact. Had some bull in him. I would like to see more from this guy.

Hell yeah, LSU creamed the sh*t out of the worst Pac10 team by 8 points...

He can still work out with the team, and he is "suspended for the season, including bowls" to paraphrase.

I THINK, Oregon not being the cleanest program, is waiting for the whole thing to calm down, then make a press release about what a stand up guy he has become after learning so much, and letting him play by the time Oregon plays USC or Cal (4 weeks iirc).

Otherwise, why let his practice with the team?

If he can't practice with the team, then they've officially kicked him off, which takes away his scholarship. If you want to support the kid and punish him, let him earn his degree, but don't let him play football..

I'm not saying you are completely wrong either, but saying that the BCS isn't about money is a myth... is wrong. Just because it may have other benefits doesn't mean that it was never (or currently isn't) about money.

If a playoff doesn't prove who is best, then how does a National Championship game, as it's currently structured, determine who is best? And since the BCS isn't about money, I'm sure they're fine with not actually having a real game... just let the computer sim who is the best, and make an announcement that they are the champion.

I'm all for a +1 sort of structure, with 2 of the 4 original BCS bowls serving as playoff games (rotating the bowls each year), and then the two winners playing in the NC game.

The worst this does is push two teams out of a bowl game, but since there are so many "toilet" bowl games (due to marginally mediocre teams qualifying) that's perfectly fine with me.
Firstly, I dont think many fans are against a plus one. I never said the BCS or the previous system determined the best team. Nothing REALLY does. the only way to do it is have every team play each other, home and home, and the team with the best record at the end is the best team. That aint going to happen, because it is not fun, or interesting, too many teams and eliminates a post season altogether.

I would LOVE to see the traditional bowls (Pac10 VS Big10 in Rose for example) regardless of ranking, followed by a championship game between the #1 and #2 at the end of the season.

Second best, for me, would be the BCS system, with #1 v #4 and #2 v #3 playing followed by the extra game.

BTW, My paper is reviewed and published (in an academic journal). I should have said journal article... sorry.

That is not true. Players get removed from the team and keep schollies more often than you may realize. Often it is because of NCAA rules. More often it is because the coach or AD, for whatever reason, dont want to turn their back on a recruit because it is a nasty thing to do (either for recruiting or personally).

Also, they already burned his schollie for the year. It is gone, regardless. They dont have to keep giving it to him, but they cant use it for anything else.

Was happy to see the Vols win big yesterday at Neyland. I know Western Kentucky is a cupcake but it's easy to see that it's a new day in Knoxville! Lane Kiffin and staff isn't playing around.

LOL, I could see that as well. Atleast The SEC has some really good teams. I think the Big Ten is so overrated it's not even funny. Ohio State squeaked out a W at home vs. Navy, Iowa got very lucky twice with missed field goals or Northern Iowa would have beaten them at home, Illinois was supposed to blow Mizzou out and it was the other way around! (which was very surprising to me with Mizzou losing Daniels and Maclin).

I was at the Iowa-Northern Iowa game and was hoping UNI could pull it off. I like Iowa but have been a UNI fan my whole life (both parents graduated from there, and I'm taking a class there and will start grad school there next year). UNI's kicker kicks the ball with way too low trajectory so I'm not surprised the kicks were blocked. Don't think Iowa beat a bad team though. UNI is a veteran team with a senior quarterback and an all senior O-line. They have a good shot at the I-AA National Title. They could beat a lot of BCS conference teams.

They are. Until they got their mouths kicked in twice by the SEC in the championship games and all the bowl games they've been losing, so they've been a little more subtle about it.
