Default Bewitched: Seasons 3&4 - 28 May 2025 - Imprint Television #15

Bewitched: Seasons Three and Four Blu-ray

Quote:
WITH THE TWITCH OF A NOSE, BEWITCHED POPS UP IN HIGH-DEFINITION!

United by love, Darrin and Samantha Stephens may look like a classic American couple, but they have a secret that distinguishes them from their suburban neighbours – ad executive Darrin is a mortal, but Samantha is a beautiful witch. While Samantha is mostly content with living life as a mortal, her mother, Endora, cannot imagine what she sees in Darrin. Although Samantha does her best to avoid using her magical powers, sometimes she just can’t resist.

Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, and Agnes Moorehead star in the much-loved 1960s classic fantasy sitcom – and now Imprint Television brings Seasons 3 & 4 to Blu-ray for the very first time in this 8-disc collection.

Default No season three opening theme

Well, by season three, the series had really found its feet, and the opening theme was modernised to reflect that, and it really helped set up the tone and feel of each episode of this brilliantly colourful show.
I can only imagine that Sony no longer has a "clean" copy of that version of the theme tune without the sponsor announcements.

The cheapest place to buy this in Australia (and they ship overseas) is:

https://www.ezydvd.com.au/

or

I looked up the original Season 3 Theme on YouTube and had a de Ja vu moment !
I haven't heard it since these were broadcast by Channel 7 Melbourne (Australia) in the mid 70's.
Because colour TV was only introduced in Australia in March 1975. They dispensed with playing the first two Black & White seasons, so for me Season 3 was the start of Bewitched.
I would so love the original Season 3 theme to be reinstated but Imprint can only put out the masters Sony have given them.
The other side of the coin is given the price and the fact it's long time fans that are purchasing, as originally broadcast is what we want.
Maybe we will get a pleasant surprise release day but maybe not.
In any case I have preordered because the PQ on the first 2 seasons is pristine.

I am also loving the Screen Gems credit at the end of each episode because that's my childhood memory of the end theme credits

I'd say let Imprint know now about the correct opening sequence and that will give them time to take it up with Sony.

It's great these releases are happening but there's nothing wrong with asking for the most definitive release certainly in light of the cost of these sets.

The imprint release of seasons 1 and 2 of Bewitched was announced as “comprehensive" and it was. In my view it should continue this way. if there are a potential 66 music substitutions across this set - with the theme being replaced - that's not great.I work with distributors and licensors and it's not a case of them putting out what they're given. It's a dialogue between the two parties.

I'd love the proper opening for Season 3 and 4, but with only 2 months until the release date, I'm not sure that is possible without a delay. We don't even know if Sony has any HD prints available with this version of the theme. Perhaps they will supply the theme as an extra instead.

To be honest for the color episodes I'm expecting Sony to provide the same prints that were shown on the Great American Family channel except in 4:3.

I posted in the season 1 and 2 thread that I sent an email to Imprint/Via Vision to ask about the possibility of including the correct opening theme for this box set. I will post if I get an answer. It may be too late but it doesn't hurt to ask. Please send emails if you can. It only takes a couple of minutes out of your time.

Great idea. I'll do the same. Who knows, even if it's too late to request that element restored from Sony for this box set, they may be able to do it for Season 5 or, as has been suggested, as a bonus feature. It isn't a case of a distributor just taking what they're given from the licensor; they can ask questions - after all, they are licensing it!

and asking a lot of money for it! I love Imprint and these sets, but this entire series is VERY expensive, imho. I estimate about $400 USD (or $640 AUD) for all four sets. (I think that is right). I spent $70 USD for the entire Mission Impossible TOS on bluray - all 7 seasons, with each episode being one hour long - for comparison.

My point is - for this much money, and considering the love and attention they poured over the first set, it doesn't make sense for them to not having future sets be just as good. imho,

Is anyone else concerned about possible compression issues considering the first 2 seasons had 15 Blu-rays and these only have 8?

Does anyone know why the opening themes were replaced in the first place ?
Was this to "standardise" them when they went into syndication?
