Also, if you’ve already taken a look at the 4K disc, I’d love to know how the encode turned out and whether there are burnt-in subtitles like the A24. Thank you!
re-uploaded pics using different server. Let me know if any other issues occur. (Edit: Accompanying booklet is pretty thick with many more pictures than I shared above).

I plan to examine the discs themselves over the weekend and will share my findings afterward. I'll also try to capture some screenshots with my iPhone (not ideal quality, I know) and post those as well.

Subtitles are OPTIONAL. Encode is stunning.

Here are some screenshots taken with my iphone which tends to over-brighten and shift things ever so slightly red, so take with a grain of salt.

To my eyes, this is one of the most gorgeous transfers, which is a strange thing to say about a film as gut wrenching as this one.

Thanks so much, that sounds great. I know these are phone pictures but is the film really as saturated on disc as in your pictures? I’m asking because the original master is quite noticeably desaturated and dim - so much that Leonine in Germany boosted the brightness and colors of the master contrary to what was director-approved.

Here is Kobe’s comparison between the correct A24 and the boosted German one: https://slow.pics/c/oKunjUkf

I’d be happy if you could check this one last thing.

Those comparison images are interesting. Someone can argue their experience was different, but my personal experience was the film was not as dim as the screen shots you shared. That said, I find the home video depends on so many factors like the TV, settings like cinema versus say vivid , etc. when watching this 4K for me it approximates pretty closely how I saw it in the theater.

The theater I saw it in was a 3-4 year old AMC. In fact it is the same AMC they shot the AMC ad featuring Nicole Kidman. It was supposed to be an arclight when first planned but the pandemic hit literally as it was completed and AMC took over— if that makes any difference to the way it’s projected. Brand new screens with the latest state of the art projectors. I share this only to set the stage how I personally saw the film when it was released.

I’m sure you’re correct and there is some slight boosting going on with the home video release but for me the difference is definitely not to the degree that those images you showed me.

I definitely wouldn’t judge my iPhone pix (iPhone 13 mini) as a true representation of the image. The image is much better, the colors less saturated, lights and shadows much more nuanced on my Korean 4K release.

Leonine and all the other companies are listed in the opening credits whether that helps determine the master they used, I’m not sure. I don’t have a state of the art home theater setup. For me many times I’m disappointed by the video release and good enough is many times just good enough, so I’m not prone to hyperbole. But this presentation has exceeded my expectations in every way.

For me this release is the closest approximation to my experience in the theater, visually speaking. That said, it will never replace the emotional experience I had watching The Zone of Interest at the cinema.

But I invite anyone else who owns the Korean 4K release to chime in if they feel differently. For me, the Korean 4K is a def. recommend without reservation.

Hope that helps.

Thanks again for the detailed answer. It definitely helped. I know what you mean and am happy that you are pleased with the disc.

I’m surprised that Leonine is credited in the opening, so this Korean label may have been given their tweaked master. I don’t think Leonine ever had anything to do with the film other than serving as distributor as they do for all A24 films at least since 2023.

I'm looking forward to soon having the ability to rip my discs to MKV format. Once I do, I'll be able to share better screenshots that more accurately represent the actual image quality from the discs.

How does it compare to the Canadian 4K? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I only own the Korean 4K. Maybe someone else on the forum can do a proper comparison. Plus, the images I posted are iPhone screen grabs from my TV and not proper rips.

Since the Korean disc appears to be a port of the regraded Leonine master the Canadian one is the one to go for if you can find it. Haven’t checked the French and Italien ones though.

I almost got the Canadian/Elevation 4K for under $20 from a third-party Amazon seller, only for them to go, "oh sorry, this was scanned as the wrong item and we're cancelling your order for a full refund." :/

Sorry to hear that. Unless you’re capable of adding your own subtitles to the film, I don’t think you’ve got another option than the A24. Otherwise, the Italian Eagle disc is likely the safest choice.

After a bit of haggling with an eBay seller, I finally managed to get one! Low $30 range out of pocket after $10 in eBay gift cards I had via rewards programs, plus I got a slightly discounted eBay GC from Target due to being a RedCard holder, which was also convenient in keeping the PayPal conversion fee as low as possible.
