I got the Cherry one, eventhough it doesn't match my Sony black speakers. I have this:
Center - Sony SS-CN5000
Fronts - Sony SS-F6000
Back - Sony SS-B1000

Well I got my Parts Express amp in to replace the defective one that came on it. Well now I know what I was missing in this sub! I purchased a SA240 240 RMS amp to be the defective ones replacement. This is a great little amp! It puts out very very good bass for what you pay for it. The sound is now what it should have been.

Here's a pictorial of what I did

Cut new hole for amp

Lined walls with Polyfill(layer type) and used some 3m glue to make it stay.

This is what it looked like after I lined the walls

This is after I stuffed the box with polyfil(loosely)

Picture of the Dayton Amp

Well after spending alot of time reading this thread I took the plunge and bid on an AA HD-SUB12 maple color on ebay today and got it at $127.50.

I am new to this game and have really learned alot from this forum. Next on the radar is to upgrade my AVR. I currently have polk audio monitor 50's for front, CS-1 for center and a couple sonys from my HTIB for the surrounds and a Sony AVR....any suggestions on an mid-priced AVR?

Anxiously awaiting for the UPS truck!

I can now feel the hit in my chest and back on heavy bass with both subs at half gain with the receiver gain set at 0. I'm still playing with it but know it can only get better.

From now on, we will call your subwoofer the the Duneaholic Express sub.

That is a fantastic price for HD-SUB12.

Depending on your budget, almost any of the following receivers will make you happy:

It is costing me even more money. As if the $418 box for my DIY subwoofer wasn't enough, I just spent another $170 for a 12" Shiva subwoofer driver to upgrade one of my Hsu cylindrical subs. You guys are a bad influence. I need several dog houses. I don't think Mrs. Big Daddy will forgive me until 2010.

If you don't hear anything from me around the end of September, it means that I am either killed by my wife or I am not allowed inside the house.
