Have never seen any of the Super Space Theatre films (own the Stingray one that came with the LE Blu-ray) but tempted to get the first Thunderbirds one to see how it looks.

Think going by what was said it would be all 3 thunderbirds compilation films in 1 release. Can’t see there being too many releases in the range as the space 1999 ones are readily available and the champions isn’t an Anderson show. I can see the stingray ones being rereleased as they were only briefly available. The ufo and joe 90 ones were released via network but both out of print. Think the other releases will be:

ufo: (invasion:ufo)

Joe 90: (The Amazing Adventures of Joe 90)

Captain scarlet: (Captain scarlet vs the mysterons, Revenge of the mysterons of mars)

Stingray: (The incredible voyage of stingray
Invaders of the deep)

I agree. Network's Super Deluxe LE of "Stingray" will never be beat. Here's what it contained:

• Super Deluxe edition box
• Luxury hardcover Memorabilia album
• Replica Stingray pressbook
• Two bespoke artprints
• Stingray aqua blue 7" vinyl

• Exclusive, limited edition deluxe packaging
• Brand-new Stingray comic
• Brand-new Stingray book by archive television historian Andrew Pixley
• Gerry Anderson commentaries on the pilot and Standby for Action
• The Reunion Party - 40th episode HD remaster utilising the Japanese Stingray presentation footage
• Give-a-Show projector image gallery
• Sylvia Anderson interview part 2
• Walton Home Movies
• Image Gallery (5 mins)
• Stingray WASP pilot license and badge
• Brand-new Mini Adventure CD
• Stingray Ephemera Wallet
• Lincoln Toy Advert
• Lyons Maid Advert
• Des O'Connor Sketch
• Ad Bumpers
• French End Titles
• Century 21 Tech Talk: Stingray
• Stingray TV21 audio adventures

• Remastered and reconstructed two Super Space Theater Stingray films.

---

I hope they put out a "Thunderbirds" box every bit as comprehensive as the Network sets (and keep away from the AI and DNR).

I have no history at all with Thunderbirds, but what exactly is this a Volume 1 of? Letterboxd shows there's a 5-movie collection of which these are the last 3 movies?

So this is volume 1 of their Super Space Theatre Blu-Rays, and it has all of the thunderbirds features. I assume volume 2 will be a Captain Scarlet collection, or a Stingray collection.

Networks already released 4 of the Space 1999 SST features, which I assume is what you are referring to from letterboxd.

All of the SST films are below:

Destination Moonbase Alpha (Space 1999)
Alien Attack (Space 1999)
Journey through the Black Sun (Space 1999)
Cosmic Princess (Space 1999)

The Incredible Voyage of Stingray (Stingray)
Invaders from the Deep (Stingray)

Thunderbirds to the Rescue (Thunderbirds)
Thunderbirds in Outer Space (Thunderbirds)
Countdown to Disaster (Thunderbirds)

Captain Scarlet vs the Mysterons (Captain Scarlet)
Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars (Captain Scarlet)

Invasion:UFO (UFO)

The Amazing Adventures of Joe 90 (Joe 90)

Legend of the Champions (The Champions)

Thank you. If I haven’t really seen any Gerry Anderson, would it make sense to start with Thunderbirds the TV series rather than these movie versions?

I guess I want to see one thing and see how it suits me, then potentially decide to watch more.

That is what I am concerned about now, sold off my Japanese Thunderbirds set partly due to the sync issues assuming the Anderson Store set would be the definitive version, now I wondering if its just best to wait and see what happens.

Hopefully though they will issue replacement discs for Space Precient and in turn make sure no further releases suffer a similar issue. (if I was heading up their QC I would want to know how the issue with Space Precient happened and what processes will be put in place to prevent a repeat)

I think any Gerry Anderson fan will probably suggest you start with the TV series, not the SST Films.

These films, while loved by some of us because we grew up watching them on VHS as kids, are not the best representation of the show. The episodes are cut up, and stitched into a film, with extra music and over the top FX added to them.

Personally I'd suggest giving the show a watch online, and seeing what you make of it before diving into the whole series, but yeah, the films are more of a die-hard fan purchase.

The stingray one should be good to go seeing as it was released in 2022. Maybe 2 captain scarlet ones and Joe 90 if they are doing 3 to a volume?

I would prefer if they were per show volumes personally, but yeah I can imagine them bunching the other ones up.

I think they implied on the Gerry Anderson podcast that they were actually going to do The Champions one as well, but I'm not sure. I don't really care about that one either way.

If you include the Spazio:1999 film which was in the previous super space theatre setit would make it 5 volume’s of 3 releases. they will have to go all out on the extras for the space 1999 ones for me to buy those ones again.

Good suggestion. I found it on archive.org and watched "00 Introducing Thunderbirds". That one was a bit boring, but I love the visuals. I will watch a couple of actual episodes to see how the story is, and then might get this series boxed set if I like it.

Wouldn't mind " legend of the champions " on blu ray ( unlikely I expect) don't expect a full box set of this ITC series on HD anytime soon.

Introducing Thunderbirds was one of three new episodes made for the 50th Anniversary in 2015. The visuals are new, but they used a 1960s LP for the audio source so it's original actors.

The visuals though are lovingly and painstakingly recreated, so it's still been a good judge for that.

The 3 anniversary episodes will be part of Anderson Entertainment's complete series set.

I did now already watch episode 1 and am in the middle of episode 2. I decided that it's enough to sell it to me, and not to watch more episodes at the moment, would rather watch it in HD. Will most likely get the boxed set, perhaps after waiting for reviews.

I agree with you, but this way I think they will get more sales by releasing the films first and then the series.

Probably opted for TrueHD as the Dolby licence was cheaper than DTS, the release of the Super Space Theatre films will be a good test on what to expect.
