Holy crap this excites me! I still play the PS4 version to this day! I'm so glad a new version is coming! It's still the best golf game out there IMO!

Hot Shots Golf is a fun series. I'll consider this. I still have Hot Shots 1 on PS1.

I tried the demo, but couldn't get used to it, as I don't think the demo let me test out the first hole course. It lets me get to the T, but it won't let me hit that ball. I that was a flaw of the demo. Only the driving range was accessible for PSVR1. I'm sure the main game is much more accessible and easy to play.

I noticed in 2024, they brought out Hot Shots Golf 1 again on the PS5 store for the first time. Playable I guess on PS5.

Huh I thought it was a PS exclusive, but this will be published by Bandai so it's multiplat PS5/NS1/Steam.

Yeah I'm not sure who has the rights to what with this IP.

I THINK this golf series was always more of a 2nd party game on PlayStation, not a 1st party game. It was never developed by one of Sony's 1st party studios. Camelot made the original Hot Shots Golf on PS1. Clap Hanz Entertainment made all the other Hot Shots/Everybody's Golf iterations. Neither studio was owned by Sony. I'm guessing Sony owns the name and is licensing it out to Bandai Namco. Regardless, I'm just glad the franchise is back!

Everywhere I'm seeing shows SONY owns the IP and it's being licensed to Bandai Namco, same as with Freedom Wars.

Some articles are claiming it's heavily based off of the Vita title World Invitational.

the promotional art is an updated version of the Vita's cover art, so that makes sense

anyway, the timing of this announcement is funny, I had a Mario Tennis/Golf itch recently, which extended to this series, so I've been playing through the ps1/ps2/psp games including Hot Shot Tennis through emulation, also been playing World Invitational on the vita, fun games

That IP has lost its luster. Super Rush was super average IMO.

The RPGs are also quite good if you're in the mood for something like that. I'd also vouch for Neo Turf Masters, wonderful vibes and pixel art on that one.
