Default Airplane Hijacked in Mexico

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,548540,00.html

Mexican Airplane Hijacked Out of Cancun, Flown to Mexico City Airport

DEVELOPING: An AeroMexico passenger plane was hijacked at the airport in the resort area city of Cancun and flown to the airport in the capital of Mexico City, according to local media reports.

The hijacked plane landed safely and is on the runway at the airport, according to Mexico's Transport Minister Juan Molinar. Mexican security forces have arrived at the airport.

Three or four men, reportedly of Bolivian citizenship, seized control of the plane and threatened to blow it up unless they were allowed to speak to Mexico's President Felipe Calderon, according to Web sites El Universal and Reforma.

Local television reports said that there were explosives onboard the plane.

The plane was carrying 104 passengers, according to Mexican network, TV Azteca.

Such a crazy place...

The latest update is that everyone is safe but my concern is how did they get past security?

Not too close, the airport is pretty far from my place, but it's all over the news here. I don't remember a situation like this around here.

Horrible. There are some very disturbed people living amongst us. It has gone off the news here for now, hopefully it all ends ok.

At least the officials said the hijacking's over:

Too close for the passengers, though.

If anyone wants an update and doesn't want to look it up..... there ended up only being 1 hijacker, and the other people believed to be hijackers were just regular passengers who somehow got mixed up in the hijacking.

The lone hijacker mentioned that today's date (9/9/09) represents 666 upside down, and wanted to send a message to the Mexican president. Strange guy.
