VS along with Don Coscarelli were unable to locate the original camera negative. I would place a bet that SF is using the same 4K master from the interpositive used for the VS release but adding Dolby Vision.

Finally got around to watching my copy of Dog Soldiers on Blu. Can’t remember the last time I saw a movie look that bad. I could tell the transfer came from a print, but, holy hell! It looked like VHS. Is there some history with that movie as far as its quality is concerned? I see they put out a 4K. Is it significantly better?

Up until the 4K Dog Soldiers has looked bad on most releases.

I don't know why I keep ordering from Shout. I thought if I ordered 3 titles they would come in a box, nope they shoved them all in a padded envelope and the padded envelope was opened in my mail box. A box probably only costs them a few cents more.

Diabolik DVD is my go-to retailer for Shout/Scream titles (and a lot more). They will package your order to be well-protected as it travels by mail. I like OrbitDVD, as well, but Diabolik is located one state over from me.

For four titles you get still get a padded envelope and four crushed cases!

I rarely sit through an entire film in one sitting these days so, yes, it’s infuriating having to sit through a procession of legalese, logos and other crap multiple times to get to the main menu. And hopefully your memory is still good so you remember exactly where you left off. Come on

By the way, how come Criterion can get away with not plastering a bunch of disclaimers on their discs? I love that they take you straight to the menu

Since Shout apparently owns it outright, I'm crossing my fingers and toes that 2025 will be the year we finally see HUMONGOUS, one of the most underrated '80s slashers, get re-released in HD.

I'll take the same Scorpion master with fixed audio, or a new 2K scan as a website exclusive, or a 4K UHD of the theatrical cut with the unrated version on blu-ray... Literally anything!

Shout would be wise to license it out. As it appears they have no interest in releasing it themselves, so why not license it to a Terror Vision, Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome or another company that is willing to roll the dice and try again with a new release.

That’s lame. I guess I’m always going to have to order one title that comes with a poster to guarantee a box.

That's odd that they apparently have no interest. I bet it would be a big seller. I'm glad I own the Scorpion Blu-ray, but I'd definitely buy a new edition.

Black Christmas (2006) also seems like a likely Scream Factory title, but apparently no interest there either. Or Lionsgate refuses to license it or release it on their own.

Also, seems more and more like we won't be seeing the 4Ks of Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 this year, unless they're opting for a September/October release rather than a summer release.

So who is supposedly putting out the original SLEEPAWAY CAMP on 4K? That's the only one I want.

Be glad you missed out on the Scorpion disc, there's about 10 minutes straight of audio issues.

Supposedly, Scream Factory, but something was mentioned about the original camera negative had gone missing. Maybe they're holding the 4K UHD back until the OCN is found? Or maybe they've located it already and that's why the 4K UHDs of 2 and 3 aren't announced yet?

I'd buy a 4K UHD of the original too, but parts 2 and 3 are my favorites.

IIRC, it's about seven minutes, but it didn't bother me too much. I'd rather own the Scorpion Blu-ray than not own Humongous at all. Hopefully, we'll get a better release eventually.
