Default Please Help Me Upgrade my Receiver

Hi guys, I've been out of the loop for a while on current tech. My old Sony TV is starting to go on me so I'm FINALLY going to soon upgrade to a 4k TV.

I'm running an old Sony 7.1 STRDA2400ES Receiver that doesn't support 4K passthrough, among a lot of other things.

I'd like a 7.2 receiver at 100 watts per channel, and I'd like to spend around $600 or so. I'd also like something with an on-screen display but that might just be standard on a lot of receivers nowadays. Whatever TV I end up with will also have a 120Hz refresh rate (think I read that matters somewhere in regards to 4k HDMI passthrough?) I also don't play video games at all either, just movies only.

I'm considering the Onkyo TX-NR6100 or Yamaha RX-V6A. See there's some mixed reviews on both of these models though. I think I've also heard Denon makes good receivers but I'm not very familiar with the brand.

Is there anything else that should be on my radar, or something I'm overlooking that I need to read up on before making a decision?

Appreciate any advice or recommendations--thanks in advance!

I'm a Denon guy, personally. I've had several and I love the interface and sound quality. Can't say enough good things about A4L either. Grab one of these.

S970H
(I own this one. Love it.)

I would probably go with this one if I were shopping for something in that budget... it smokes the Onkyo 6100 (Integra is the higher end of Onkyo, and this one would be equal to to 7100 in power but with preouts like the RZ50). Be aware, there is only 1 left at this price.

Retail is $1,500 new...

Includes DIRAC which is around $300 extra for other AVRs

Thank you both for your replies!

I ended up catching a deal on a TV, so I ended up buying a receiver a bit sooner than I planned. I did end up going with the Yamaha mentioned above because I was able to grab it for about $150 off the normal price and was pretty sold on the features and reviews. Overall I'm really happy with it and how it sounds. The GUI is a bit lackluster, especially compared to the Onkyo I was looking at, but I just couldn't go with the Onkyo after all the problems I read about those models. I'm not one to use all the extra sound fields and such.

Feel like I should have given the Denon more consideration, but I just wasn't familiar with the brand much. I've honestly never heard of the Integra line before today, or that site.

Again, very happy with this RX V6A so far. Just wanted to reply to say I appreciate the replies!

I've had the Yamaha receiver for a while now and I love it. I've had a lot of different receivers but, when I bought my first Yamaha, I knew I'd never buy another brand. I listen to a lot of music and they're great for that. Also great for movies. Check out some of their own surround modes. Some of them are really good. Enjoy.
