Default Are you selective with Blus you buy?

I'm just curious who here buys every single Blu-ray that's released (in the U.S.) Or, are you selective of your purchases?

I'm pretty selective. If I like the movie, I'll get it. If I think it'll be a big enough improvement over DVD, I'll get it. I guess I don't see this as much of a hobby as some people. And I have other hobbies that require my funds

Just interested in what you guys have to say!

Why do you buy every Blu?
Why are you selective?
Do you buy some movies simply because of the PQ and AQ?

Cheers!

I buy mostly based off value and preference, so if I see a movie at Wal Mart for 10 dollars and if it's something interesing I would likely buy it.

I'm very selective because I don't make much money and I only buy movies that I can watch more than once.

I love movies, they are my hobby. I enjoy having different family members over to watch movies in my home. Thus, I like owning movies...lots of them. However, I only buy movies i like and plan on watching again. In fact I have watched most of my Blu-rays more than once.

Absolutely. I only buy stuff I feel is worth owning. I see these people with collections of 400, 500, 600 Blu-Rays or more and I think it's pretty obscene. I'd rather have a medium-sized collection of 90% good stuff than a large collection of 50% garbage.

I was not selective at all with DVDs and accumulated so many and most of them I only watched once - I finally realized how insane I was. But now with Blus, I am very selective and instead have used the saved funds to upgrade my HT. I try to never spend more than $15 per movie and only spend above that in special cases, such as Watchmen. Most of the time I rent them before I buy.

More like 70 percent garbage. I completely agree with you. I'd say, in all likelihood, there are maybe 250 Blu-rays worth owning that have good replay value and good AQ/PQ. I love each and every one of my movies. At this point I'm very selective about what I buy, to the point of walking around with Blu-rays in a store for ten minutes deciding if I really want them or not.

I have to say, though, that blu-ray.com has made it immensely easier in selecting the best Blu-rays. I couldn't care less about what people say about the movies, it's all about PQ and AQ with the reviews, for me at least. I've already decided on whether or not I want a movie for the content of the movie before I read the blu-ray.com review. (No offense to the reviewers; usually you guys are spot on with the movie portion of reviews)

I'm very selective. I tend to read reviews first before I buy to see how the quality is on the movie. Also the movie has to be something that I would enjoy, so I buy titles I know. Until the prices drop more, I'll keep doing this.

I will only buy if (I think) the movie appeals to me. Not by transfers or price.

Catwoman for $5 would be $5 thrown away, even it was picture perfect.

I only buy the movies I really like on Blu, and only if they are at a reasonable price. I also still buy DVD's if I feel they will not be too much of an improvement over Blu. I've also found that many of the older movies are not worth getting on Blu due to bad PQ (example of this is Predator and Goodfellas-not impressed with the PQ).

If I really like a new movie being released on Blu, I may possibly get it on the release date, regardless the cost.

Another tread that assumes that someone with a large collection does not like all of their movies. I have a large collection and like 95% of everything I buy. Not everyone has the same taste. Some people have wider taste in movies than others.

I am selective. I only buy movies I know I like enough to watch multiple times, including blind buys.

I am selective...I won't pay more than 17 bucks for a movie...and of course I have to love the movie. Amazon always seems to have great deals...

If I had the money I might be like you. I'm pretty open-minded about movies.

I am selective and purchase depending on the replay value of the movies, otherwise I would rent. I expect almost all members would do the same (unless you own a rental business ).

I'm selective, been even more so lately. In fact, I'm about to even sell off quite a few blu's I've already bought because I never watch them.

I would describe myself as selective, but not as selective as some think I should be.
