4K Minority Report

Ok, not meaning to rain on anyone's parade...

...but of all the Spielberg films to get a 4k treatment, Minority Report is not the greatest choice. The color palet is sucked out and the picture is a bit lifeless. This was mainly the result of post-production techniques that I fully agree Spielberg chose but...

Aside from that I am not a huge Cruise fan, so it's hard for me to get past that. I would have preferred to see any number of Speilberg titles announced for the 4k treatment, including Saving Private Ryan, Jaws, Amistad, Jurassic Park and of course Raiders.

Truth be told... it didn't always bother me, until I saw Minority Report on TV in HD, then I realized how bad the DVD looked.

And, despite what some have said on this board, I like film grain.

can't wait for the assembly line scene with the spin around guns. Is going to kill on the bass aspect.

I can't wait for this 4K-to-1080p release. You gotta know Spielberg is gonna carry over all the extras from the 2-Disc set so there's no problem selling the DVD. And I highly prefer grain too.
Can't wait for JAWS: 35th Anniversary Edition (It's a given), Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Empire of the Sun and oh what the hell, ALL of Spielbergs films on Blu-ray! (I'm still attempting to search for a great low price for Close Encounters of the Third Kind Blu since I already sold my 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD.)

I liked the film a lot, but not enough to buy it on Blu. DVD is good enough for me.

If Spielberg does personally handle the video transfers of his films, I'm sure it will be good. If Close Encounters was an idea of how his films will look in terms of preserving the look of the film at home, I will be a happy man when this comes out.

I thought it was good in theaters, but the more I've seen it, the more I like it. I plan on picking this one up whenever it comes out.

happy to hear a Spielberg movie is getting the red carpet rolled out for it, and hopefully this means his other more iconic films get the same treatment (Jurassic Park, Jaws, Indy Trilogy, etc) in the future...but honestly, Minority Report is not the movie I'm looking for. I'll be moving along now.

I just watched this again the other day, it was one of those movies that I didn't think much of going into it so I was very happily surprised by it.

I also can't wait to see this in high-def; it's one of my favorites!

The DVD looked grainy as it is, but for this film, I don't think it'll be a bad thing necessarily, especially if it's really fine grain. And with a new 4k transfer, the image should look smashing.

Oh yes, there will be grain...
