Did they ever at any point since the crowdfunding closed comment on the HD footage remaster situation? as I remember the DS9 documentary had fairly regular updates with sneak peeks of the newely remastered footage but I don't remember anything similar for the Voyager documentary outside of a remastered CGI sequence.

Also, worth pointing out that the stretch goal list disclaimer said this at the bottom...

Quote:
Goals 8-10 (HD footage remaster) represent the creative intent of the production team, and require the permission and support of VicomCBS. We are in active conversation with ViacomCBS with specific details still pending. The production team will in good faith attempt to complete the goals as described. In the event that goals 8-10 cannot be completed, funds obtained will be invested in other aspects of the production.
I am going to assume ViacomCBS did not play ball for whatever reason and wouldn't grant them access to the negatives so they instead used the money elsewhere hence its absence from the documentary.

I absolutely do recall this disclaimer, however, as I said in my prior post, you would think, given the success of What We Leave Behind, as a whole, and with the HD remastered footage being such a big hit, in particular, I find it difficult to fathom what reason Paramount would have had not to have been co-operative here.

I realize that the team were not obligated to continue to provide updates on that aspect of the production, but, I still maintain that they should have been more transparent about it. They were well aware that this particular campaign goal was smashed based upon the excitement around said DS9 footage in their prior doc and, fair or not, that there was an expectation set amongst the fanbase, which...let's be clear, the producers definitely capitalized on to fund this project. That's not meant as a negative, either. They absolutely should have done, and, I'm sure they made every effort, in good faith, to make this happen. All I'm saying is that they should have been a little more forthcoming.

100% agree and who knows perhaps the remastering is still underway and they released the current version just to get it out there and the eventual Blu-ray will actually include it, would be nice to get a official statement either way explaining why they couldn't remaster and where the money went instead.
